dry sockets are when the gums dry out but dont close after the teeth are extracted, clotting and leaving basically an empty void where the tooth used to be. The dentist would have to reopen it, scraping it out and sewing them shut, quite painful procedure I understand.

Nah, I had 2 dry sockets (out of 4) and they just pack them w/ gauze soaked in some type of medicine. Very easy and painless to do but just annoying. My oral surgeon did them at his house, but that was because I was dating his daughter! :naughty: The gauze did make a cool sound when he pulled it out though.

I know someone who had dry sockets and it was quite painful.
