Lions and Hendon

Right. He can say anything he wants about Hendon but it is obvious they don't trust him. I guess they are OK with destroying Hookers confidence in the organization for career backup #'s, 1 playoff game ever played in, and a 43-36 career record.

Career
15,120yards. 75TD's 47picks. And a rating of 90.5.
They have been decimated on the Defensive side and just want a proven QB backup on roster in case Jared gets hurt. Doesn’t mean Hendon won’t play but would likely have a short leash.

Best job in the NFL is a QB3

Carry a board & don’t get hit. Make a nice living that can carry you forever the longer you make the roster.
A lot of NFL teams actually don’t seem to keep a 3rd QB on the roster anymore (especially longer term, with 3 QBs on roster not being a requirement anymore). Much of the league just rosters 2 QBs and uses the extra open roster spot for another position.

Smart athletes cash checks and live long healthy lives. To your question, college baseball and I play golf as a hobby, you don’t have to be too athletic for that.
I play golf for a living and have for 23 years. The back and knees are sore every day, but I still would not take the money and miss the rush of competition.

Odds are anyone making any kinda living for 23 years has to deal with sore backs, knees, hips, necks, etc daily. Sounds like a fair trade
Would not trade it for anything. I know I am capable of winning but more than likely not gonna happen at my age, but the rush of the competition is unbelievable and worth all the travel, the pain, the missed cuts, the hotels, the terrible locker room food......

This is probably more likely a "mentor" role or an audition for a job on the staff next year imo. I doubt Teddy wants to be taking hits out there after everything he's been through. And the Lions love coaches who are former players.

This is what I get from it. Teddy said he wanted to be on a championship team before getting into coaching. It's probably an unannounced handshake deal. If the Lions win the Super Bowl, Teddy becomes an assistant coach next year. Kinda audition him to see what he can bring to the table for both Goff and Hooker.

It simply means that they’re more comfortable headed into the playoffs with Bridgewater, who has started over 60 games in his career, being the backup.

OR maybe they realistically feared only having an inexperienced guy to throw out there if #1 goes down thru the post season. May never know, won’t know for sure until a need arises and one of them runs out there. Anything else is STUPID speculation, the worst is stir it up AGENDA driven. Pretty transparent by SOME. Bridgewater is not their future. Hooker? TBD.

I’m thinking it means that Goff is their guy for the foreseeable future and Hendon costs too much salary cap as a high 3rd round pick. They’re getting ready to trade Hendon?

I played baseball, basketball and golf. Golf is certainly a sport as much as any, but you don't have to be big, tall and/or run fast to do it. I played on championship teams in all three sports at various points in my lifetime, as a starter, and golf is easily harder to be really good at than the other two, relatively speaking
Gold if a game. There is no defense. It's something you do alone against yourself. It is NOT a sport.

Respectfully, disagree. This is most likely “we want a veteran QB with postseason experience on the roster for the playoffs if our starter gets hurt” type of move. It unfortunately, also, suggests they don’t want to be in a position of having to start Hendon in the postseason if Goff gets hurt.

Titans need him. Badly. Why they chose a clown from Kentucky over Hooker I’ll never understand. Maybe they learned their lesson
No, that’s doubtful. I look for them to sign Daniel Jones to a $100 Million contract. It’s the only logical Titan’s move to make. But yeah-drafting Hendon would’ve made too much sense

If anything is of concern about his salary cost and they were trying to get rid of him, his contract situation shifts after this season and makes him a lot easier for them to cut in the next year or two, if anything.

In 2025, his contract only becomes a $579k penalty if cut, while freeing up $980k for the team (unless they cut him after June 1…then it’s only a $289k penalty while freeing up $1.27 Mil for the team).
In 2026, his contract becomes only a $289k penalty if cut, while freeing up $1.53 Mil for the team.

My point mostly being that, if they were at the point of thinking Hooker’s salary is too high, it would probably mean they’re at a point where they’d be likely cutting him in the next year or two over anything else (rather than trying to shop him around as a trade).

He hasn't taken a live snap in almost 2 years and has knees that would make Derrick Rose feel sorry for him. I don't see them relying on him to make a run in playoffs of Goff gets hurt. But we can agree to disagree, no worries.
