VolsDeep: great post on why you don't like Dooley's plan to use officials later on the year, and not on gamedays. I agree on all of your points, and definetly think the recruits need to see King Neyland loaded up with fans on gamedays. There is NO place like it on earth.

they are using the later officials as a way for more interaction between coaches and recruits, while still encouraging unofficials...smart move because i guarentee recruits care more about staff interaction than fans at the stadium (and if this year is as bad as some are thinking, the fans wont be something to show off)

I disagree. These recruits talk to the coaches a lot, or at least have th option to talk to them anytime they want by picking up the phone and calling the coaches.. While meting face to face is certainly important, I'm sure the coaches would have the 5 mins or so to do that on gameday. Again, Neyland Stadium on a Saturday is and forever will be our best recruiting tool.

talking to a recruit over the phone is nothing compared to in person interaction...would much rather a d line recruit hang out with Chuck Smith for a day than sit in the stands for a day and maybe get 3 hours of face time with Smith over a weekend...plus, in the fall most kids dont get in til saturday morning, further cutting into the time they spend on campus.... Neyland is an awesome recruiting tool, which is why its great that Dooley and Co. encourage recruits to come down for unofficials

I really like the way the coaches are doing this. We are going to have a good amount of unofficial visitors so I don't see how it is hurting us.

The staff is selling the people here at UT rather than an acre of steel and concrete. I like this approach. This is where Dooley will really show out. Face to face meetings. Just ask James Stone and Justin Hunter.

There's brick now, too.

I have seen these guys say somewhere that they are coming:

SC S Pat Martin 4star
MI WR DeAnthony Arnett 4star
AL S Chris Jones 4star
GA TE Jay Rome 4star
GA OL Alan Posey 3star
TN CB Tino Thomas 3star

Hubbs has hinted that A.J. Johnson and Antonio Richardson may be coming up as well.
LV. Do you know if these visitors get to be part of the vol walk or is that against the rules. I think if they were able to that it would win some boys over.

i'm not sure anymore. it is illegal to simulate gameday events.
Would it be correct to assume these are more guidelines than rules as far as gameday events? I mean Kiffin used the fog machine because we don't use that during actual gameday events but it was still illegal. If the recruits aren't actually part of the team during the Vol walk but behind the team. This is why the compliance office deals with this stuff and I'm sure there are a lot of gray areas that most coaches take advantage of.

OT I know, but do you guys know who was here for the UTM game? I went down to the sports complex to show my son the NC trophy. They had guys at the doors that told me it was shut down for recruits who were being shown around. I saw some guys walking around with what I assumed were hostesses.

This is an important weekend. UT needs to at least make a great showing, but of course winning this thing would be better.

BOL is reporting that K Alexander and Elston will be at UA tom. We have over 30+ 2012 going to be at the game tom., but the AL 2012 class is loaded so not a big deal. Also G Wright is visited UA with Crowell and so is C Jones.

Hubbs said it was a possibility that those guys would show up so your probably right. He just said he wouldnt be surprised if they came with Carson.
