Reduction in the Federal work force by attrition is my favorite out of all of these. Way too many dinosaurs

yeah, because the taxpayers of Mississippi should be funding jazz and theater projects in Baltimore

Tell that to the parents of young band students admiring the talents of a top notch musician made possible by the NEA.

The NEA is being used by Obama to create propaganda kind of like how PBS is used in the same capacity.

Guess I should go toss my trumpet in the Tennessee River, then. Seeing as how it's a tool for evil and all.

Never said that. You assumed it. Funding for the arts is being decimated all over the country. School band, chorus, and theater departments are having a hard time affording anything these days and have to rely more and more on fundraising that still can't cover the costs. It would be nice to know that someone would still care about this stuff before it goes the way of the dodo bird.

I get where you're coming from as I have grade school children but we cannot allow our government to use tax payer funded groups like the NEA for their own political pawns. I believe funding cuts for arts programs are just another symptom of the inept government-funded public school system.

Show me how Obama is using the FEA and PBS for propaganda. Should then cut funding for sports by your reasoning, too.

many of them (along with PE) are already being cut and funded by parents. As fat as kids are today I don't think it should be first. If you want to be in the band do what athletes do- practice after school. We're falling to far behind to worry about whether the glee club is funded well enough

Already do. When I was in band in high school our marching band rehearsals ran past school hours two days per week and in the winter/spring dress rehearsals and every single jazz band rehearsal occurred after school.

if American's had more jobs and paid less taxes, they could donate more to those causes and charities. it would be less beauracratic. We don't need the government funding every aspect of our lives.

Gibbs says they can cut a bunch out of the defense budget. Don't see that anywhere on the list.

Hey, not saying that some of these might not be damn good ideas. But even a quick glance suggests this is more rhetorical hyperbole to continue the campaign mantra than anything else.

When the bill's proponent sends out a partisan "study" that begins with "...prohibit any FY 2011 funding from being used to carry out any provision of the Democrat government takeover of health care ..." and the first things you list are the NEA and Public Broadcasting you kind of lose your credibility that you are all about just saving dollars.

public broadcasting and the healthcare bill (not implemented yet remember) seem to be the biggest cash wastes i can think of that can be easily eliminated. cutting military spending ain't so easy and uncomplicated.

DoD appears to differ with you on that.
