List of HC Vacancies Getting Long Now...

I see your point, and somewhat agree. Can I ask you, do you never talk to him no matter how far down the list you get? It's my opinion that if he gets a couple of wins in games against recruiting rivals it will help flip recruits, and if he is progressing yearly soon the focus will come more into University and UT tradition that Petrino's past. Don't get me wrong sir, he isn't my first choice, but I would take him above many listed so far.

Interesting take on it. My personal opinion is that if we don't land Gruden and we start striking out and get so far down the list where Petrino is an option, we have two options. Hire Fulmer on 4 year contract and give him by year 2 to name a HCIW to Tao over after year 4 or we name Chaney the head coach. As crazy as those two are, Petrino would lose us more money in attendance, concessions and donors.

My personal opinion on it.

Also, don't call me sir. I'm 23 lol

I live in Missouri and follow them a bit, because they are local. People are disappointed in Mizzou's finish but there is no talk of Pinkel being gone. If you follow Mizzou, you realize that he has done more for that football program than anyone to get it to a competitive level. They will not fire him after one bad year.
You better go follow Tiger Board then.

That's just like any other board. I have been on power Mizzou and it sounds a lot like every SEC message board. There are no national stories or reports that this is even remotely a possibility. Just fan rumors.

Pinkel saved Mike Alden's job after the whole Quin Snyder debacle. He won't can Pinkel after 1 bad season. Until this comes from a national source and not a fan message board, I see this as very unlikely.

Been glancing over the rumor mills and various sites and the list of HC Jobs on-the-line is getting bigger. I still say the UT job is one of or not top one in the country but this could get intersesting in the coming weeks of a revolving doors of coaches and assistants....

Auburn - Gene Chizik
Kentucky - Joker Phillips
Arkansas - John Smith
Southern Miss - Ellis Johnson
Illinois - Tim Beckman
Purdue - Danny Hope
Colorodo - Jim Embree
Cal - Jeff Tedford
Idaho - Robb Akey
UTEP - Mike Price
Western Michigan - Bill Cubit
USC - Lane Kiffin(???)
NC State - Tom O'Brien
Boston College - Frank Spaniani

Only 2 colleges that are schools we would potentially go up agaisnt for coaching hires.
Arkansas, and Cal. Auburn has an investigation hanging over their heads, or it would be 3

It looks like the shakeup at Auburn is continuing...someone posted over in the Auburn forums that Tim Jackson Executive Associate Athletics Director will no longer be involved with Auburn Football; presser at 3:30

I think Doeren is going to be a good one in the Big 10. He's done a good job at NIU, but also inherited a good team from Jerry Kill, now at Minnesota.

I also feel the same way about him coaching at a Big 10 school. Crazy to think how high they could be ranked if they win the MAC Championship Friday. I agree he has inherited good players from Kill, but you still have to coach them up. I think he's done a very good job at that.

I kind of follow Doeren, as he is from a Kansas City suburb on the Kansas side. He should have been offered the KU job, but it may have been a blessing for him that he wasn't.

That seems to be a dumpster fire there. I'm an NIU alumn and love what Doeren has done there. I think he'll do good things where ever he goes. My dad is from Tennessee and I have been a Vol fan since birth.

Watch Purdue to go after Chaney.

Does Chaney even want to be a HC? He seems too laid back to want the stress of managing a whole team. Strikes me as the type that just wants to concentrate on offense and let the HC handle the big picture. I could be totally off base but that's just the way his personality has come across to me in interviews and such.

I agree. At some point on the list you get to Fulmer and maybe Petrino. I don't necessarily agree that attendance and ticket sales would suffer if Petrino is hired as I think fans would at least be curious at first and also agree that if he wins a few games all will be forgotten and the Arkansas scandal will be a distant memory. Tough choice IMO if it came down to Fulmer or Petrino (not that it ever would). I think if you get past your first 4-5 candidates and get to the Art Briles and Sonny Dykes' of the world it may be time to pick up the phone and call one of these guys.

That would be pretty surprising. I don't know what the Missouri AD expected in the school's first SEC season - we all knew it would probably be rough.

None of which can hold a candle to the UT opening. I like our chances.
