They are downgrading player rankings because they can't be that good if they signed with Tennessee.

I been watching ESPN or SEC network for 3 1/2 and I don’t think either one knows Tennessee has signed anyone . There coverage overall sucks, and is waste of time.
500 kids (??) signed by now and have not seen 1 broadcast.

We joke about it, and I do not think it is a conscious conspiracy, but there has been an anti Tennessee (or at least dismissive) culture at ESPN for 20 years now. Bad things that happen to us are headlines, while good things are roller mentions at best. Again, I don't think its a conspiracy, and I don't even think it's intentional at this point, but it is in their culture.
