Basically better options out there for less money. Gruden is better suited for NFL. nothing earth shattering

I caught a little bit of the interview a few minutes ago. One thing he said that caught my attention was that Gruden did not like working with young talent when he was in the NFL. He basically said he hated working with rookies. He said that could be really bad when he had to work with 18-22 year olds in college.

Especially since you have to kiss their asses just to get them to come to your school nowadays.

Sounds like they are really reaching here. Why would you hold QB camps and go to coaching clinics if you do not like working with young players?

He compared Gruden to Brian Kelly at ND. He said if you have ever watched Kelly turn 3 different shades of red on the sidelines due to him being so frustrated by his QB not doing what he tells them to do, then you might see the same in Gruden. He said Gruden would be really tough on a QB. Maybe so tough, a young player would just shut down and not play very well for him out of fear of messing up.

Sounds to me like he would be good for Bray. :)

His last point was that no one would want to play for a coach who was really hard on them. I guess no one really wants to play for Saban. They just can't turn down that dollar.

Proof that Gruden loves working with young talent:

LOL, like Spurrier never did the same thing. He had to keep two or three QB's because he would pull them for pissing him off. When you expect your QB to lead and expect perfection, then they better perform. Nothing wrong with having high expectations.

Political necessity?

Mark my words, if the UT picks Gruden and he comes, we will be getting an all show and no go coach.
