Lizards have lost touch with reality

Maybe. Florida’s going to beat McNeese St, Charlotte and Vandy (at home). That’s three wins.

I think they’ll be favored vs Arky at home and Missou on the road. That’d be 5 wins.

So to get to 6 or 7 wins, they’d need to win one or two of the following:

Utah
TN
KY
SC
GA
LSU
FSU

The only two of that group I’d put down as auto-losses are LSU and GA. So we’ll see.

I'm not nearly as sold on LSU as most people seem to be I'm not even sure if y'all play them at home or in BR this year honestly. If at home, I would give you a 50/50 shot as of right now.

If FSU takes them down (again) next Sunday I could see them dropping a few more games that everyone thinks are going to be fairly easy games for the Tigers

Hell, at this moment I'm not even going to pick LSU over Bama this year.

I know I'm biased and hate the stinkin' Gators more than any other team... but after watching their spring game and their QBs, they are gonna get roughed up this season. Would take a miracle to finish with a winning record.

@Utah -- LOSS
McNeese -- win
Tennessee -- LOSS
Charlotte -- win
@ Kentucky -- LOSS
Vandy -- win
@South Carolina -- LOSS
Georgia -- LOSS
Arkansas -- win (maybe)
@lsu -- LOSS
@Missou -- win
Florida State -- LOSS

5 - 7

7-5’ish, could also see 5-7.

But I think FL will be competitive in every game. Even last year, nobody blew Florida out, 5 of their 6 losses were between 7-10 points. Ga beat them 42-20 but even that game was competitive in the 3rd quarter.

I think FL can beat everyone they play, but they can also lose to everyone they play (except for the two cupcakes).

My biggest hope is that we’re good enough to retain this current crop of commits.
Your coach's buyout should keep the "fire him now" talk somewhat in check this year and help preserve the class. We once had a coach with a big buyout and mediocre results who landed highly ranked recruiting classes with a slogan about bricks. If things get too bad then just send Billy shopping at the local masonry yard and you may just be surprised at how many high recruits sign with your team. Or just repeat the phrase "scared money don't make money" over and over no matter how many losses pile up?

We're going to suck this year and we know it. We don't have a QB and we have multiple positions where depth is nonexistant.

Have to take our lumps this year and hope Napier can get his guys in the program and coach them up. It is what it is.

He’ll get more than 2 years, regardless of final record this year.

even if you get depth elsewhere, you won't have it in '24 at QB. You are going to have to rely on getting a better transfer than Mertz and/or the true freshman and hope he plays lights out.

and its a brutal '24 schedule in that you only have 1 real cupcake. who ever the starter is won't have adjustment games to start the season.

Some of you lizards are projecting that '24 is when you should be competent/playing for at least 3rd in the east or better, but QB is a huge hurdle to get over.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was a political forum thread to bash congress. Now I’m just sad

We're gonna be bad in 24 as well with the brutal schedule. Enjoy it.

What do you think Napier’s standing will be with the powers that be/fan base, presuming at the end of next season, he has had 3 years of .500 ish results? Is that acceptable for a 4rth year?

I think he makes it to '25 barring something like a 2 win season. The fans know we are in for a couple poor years with the lack of talent at multiple positions, including at the most important position, combined with the insane schedule. If there aren't signs of the ship being righted in 25 he will be cast out from whence he came.

I predicted a 2-10 record for the season. Gator Wire has an article touting the fact Mertz is rated in the top 100 of transfer quarterbacks. Out of 100 he is rated #84.
That’s something to be proud of or excited about??? It’s sort of like saying my kid got a D- but your kid got an F so my kid is smarter than yours. They’re both failures 😳

so not #84 out of all transfers, #84 out of all transfer QBs? yikes.

Mertz worries me, not gonna lie. He was a top prospect, he won the MVP at the all-star game he played in, and he can run some. He’s gonna have a whole lot more options than he had at Wisconsin.

But they have absolute dog crap behind him. It’s probably the worst QB room in the SEC by far. If he gets injured LW’s 0-fer season might actually happen

No more Anthony Richardson sounds great to me.

Yes, if the ‘24 class remains intact, Napier gets to Year 4.

With a few exceptions, it is not YET about loyalty to Napier. That is to say, whereas players going to Alabama for example know they have a proven quantity worth sticking with, UF and Napier are nowhere near that kind of allegiance.

The players that have committed to UF no doubt believe that there is great promise here and that they can succeed and have a chance at the NFL by committing to UF. But its a long way between that and having people buy into the program with Napier at the helm.

As players and all but the most starry eyed fans know that this year will be a struggle, it is at least through next season before anyone can make a judgment.

You don’t say.

Well, I did say...

Your best case is that Norvell somehow flops this year and next and the rest of the SEC doesn't take notice and start poaching.

Facing facts, this is his last honeymoon year. Your fan base is not much different from ours and won't tolerate another sub par year. Though I do think you differ in not hiring has been Big 10 coaches with questionable records...

Just hiding has been SEC coaches with questionable recruiting skills.
