they were still showing it on ESPN this morning (when I saw it for the first time)...

Now I understand that "odd feeling" that everybody's talking about...

about the only thing that could top that is the eventual next hire at Auburn... would love to laugh at a room of old farts standing up and shouting...

i think he's a great fit over there and arky fans should be extremely grateful that they landed him...

i reckon if you can recruit at louisville, you can make something happen at arkansas... and since he had such success at louisville, i think that would make it a little easier to recruit fayetteville...

now it'll be as much "come play for petrino" as it will be "come play in the SEC" or "come play for the Hogs" or "Fayetteville is really nice" or "Arkansas is a really great school"...

Petrino is another coach who will coach circles around Phil and the gang on game day. The only thing positive about this is that Arky is a round-robin opponent now and not an annual L for us.

There is a problem with the argument about Pearl and Summit. When Pearl painted his chest and went to the game - he was doing so knowing that it was taboo / outside the box ... and was something crazy to do to show support. That is why Summit did what she did - it was self-deprecating humor to show school spirit. That was obvious in both instances...something crazy, outside the box, over the top, etc.

This is apparently a normal, accepted, Arkansas tradition .... and it is embarrassing. It is embarrassing because it is not meant to be embarrassing.

No embarrassing does not always mean embarrassing. They don't consider this to be self-deprecating ... that makes it truly embarrassing. I'm sorry if you don't see that.

Now...the woo is Rocky Top..that is getting closer. It would be a logical argument to put the "woo" next to the calling of the hogs. I don't find the "woo" embarrassing....although some do.

You nailed it. The embarrassing part is that they don't realize that it's embarrassing to parade cheerleaders into a press conference to lead middle aged people in a hog call complete with spirit sprinkles.

I don't remember hearing any barking during Mark Richt's intro press conference or seeing Urban Meyer's press conference stopped so some geriatric boosters could do the Gator chomp in unison.

If I were a hog fan I would be embarrassed..... as a Vol fan I am embarrased by the woo....embarrassed by by some of our defeats and was embarrassed every time someone stuck a mic in front of Major Wingate. On purpose or not Pat Summitt embarrassed me to the point of turning the channel.
