Lofton scores 61

Yeah, he was money through a terrible illness. I cannot believe though that NBA scouts are so naive. I'm not saying lofton would be an all star but you got to be kidding me to say he's not worthy of a spot. He's so much better than so many bench players on teams it's rediculous. I mean it would be hard to worse than Reddick has done (just saying that because they are somewhat similar players) and he is a great leader and someone people want to be around. My advice to Lofton, NBA is where you belong. However, just keep putting up 50+ points up in Europe (A lot more than Childress has gotten over there) and you'll earn you a spot back in the NBA soon.

Redick went 5-of-7 from 3...yesterday...

Reddick is quicker and taller and owns the NCAA three point record. Chris was great, but he couldn't play in the NBA. It would be like putting Rudy in the NFL.

You honestly don't think he could play. I'm not even saying he would be a starter but there are so many scrubs out there he is better than. He may know that and wants to start in Europe. But if you think he couldn't play in the NBA then your crazy. He played a whole year with cancer and had a pretty good senior year most people would love to have. If anyone out there can name someone worse than Lofton that currently is on an NBA roster please post. The first person that comes to mind for me is Chris Quinn. Kid played at Notre Dame and wasn't that good there. I know there are a lot more. Just the first one that pops up into my head.

Quinn has better ball skills, is taller, faster, quciker, has a better release etc. And he, as you said, is not very good in the NBA. I love Chris but he is a terrible liability on the floor.

I still diagree. Kid faced adversity and every time excelled. But how could you say Quinn is quicker. Also it doesn't matter how quick of a release he has, he can't shoot that well. Honestly if he could shoot, he would get way more minutes. About once every fifteen games he knocks down three baskets that game. Lofton could play the point better than him. Outshoot him anywhere (including free throws) and could adapt to driving in the nba. He adapted in college when no one said he could drive there, why not be able to in the pros. Again, I'm not saying he would be great, even good, but good enough for a roster spot. and not a liability

why then, in your mind, does Lofton not have a spot in the NBA?

Reddick is 6'4....IMO, thats what hurt Lofton the most was his height
I'm thinking athletic ability killed Lofton. I love the guy, but there's no getting around that he was small and unathletic. Great shooter and otherworldly under duress.

I guess I dont understand either, because I was unaware that the NBA played defense.
Hahaha thats all i needed to know to know you must never watch NBA or if you do, dont remotely understand it. Do you know that there are 8 extra minutes in a NBA game? They place 12 minute quarters and on top of that have the best scorers in the world scoring during those extra 8 minates to of course the games are high scoring. That right there is the signature comment of someone who knows nothing about NBA.

I'm not trying to butt heads. It's just my opinion. haha. I think Chris has shown that if he wants something bad enough he will prove the naysayers wrong and achieve it. Back to the question why do I not think he has a spot on an nba roster is because he knows he will make more money and could be a better success in Europe. The argument was never why isn't he just if he could. Idk what you were refferring to in your ? but I guess giving both answers just in case haha.

I just don't understand this answer at all.

he's not on a 12 man NBA roster because he knows he can make more money in the backwoods of the Euro hoops world? You also think he can do anything he puts his mind to, yet got cut at the NBA level. Was he not trying?

Look, the defenders at the NBA level are very long. If you, as a pure shooter, have no threat to beat them to the hole, they are going to be in your shorts when you get 25 feet and in. That alone makes Lofton a less valuable player at the next level. His defense cements it.

And JJ Reddick for the Magic can beat someone to the hole. There are many pure shooters in the NBA that cannot drive to the hoop.

face guard Redick and he can burn you because he's big enough to do something and quick enough to clear some space, period.

There are no pure shooters in the NBA as small and unathletic as Lofton.

The only one that comes to mind was Steve Kerr and I think he was even 6'2 ish.

And he was more athletic than Lofton.

and even Kerr was a better athlete.

Had he not been on a team that could put 4 other + defenders on the floor at one time, he would never have seen the floor for the Bulls. Also didn't hurt that everyone defending him had to help almost constantly.

Agreed. And from what I remember he wasn't usually the primary ball handler when he was in.

That's right, until Armstrong happened along. Honestly, it's hard to call anyone but Jordan or Pippen a primary ball handler on those squads.
