Do we blame Hitler, Imperial Japan or Coach Barnhill for ending many of those streaks? Barnhill did a nice job while Neyland was liberating the world.

I guess imperial Japan, since the General ultimately served in the Pacific theatre. Of course, the great sophomore class of 1938 also had graduated by then.

From 1937 to 1940 Neyland won 20 straight sec games.
He came back to win another 5 sec games after the war for 25 straight as a personal best. 17 of the first 20 games were shutouts.
