You should say lucky for all of us. I like huggs, but for the people that don't like pearl even if he would have made the elite 8 people still would just say he hasn't won championships.

I think an elite 8 trip will make everybody on this board happy.

To be fair, Huggins inherited a better program than Pearl inherited. WVU made an Elite 8 in 2005 and a Sweet 16 in 2006. Tennessee was a mess in the few years prior to Pearl's arrival.

That's no excuse for Pearl. And certainly no diminishment of what Huggins has accomplished. Frankly, had it not been for his quick work at Kansas St., there's no way the Wildcats are in the Elite 8 this year.

It's all relative when someone says a person is a good coach. For example, I say Izzo is one of the best coaches in the country. He may not have as many championships as other coaches, but if I'm starting a team and looking for a coach then Izzo is definitely one of my first phone calls.

I don't think anyone's going to argue against that. The guy's a weekend away from his 6th Final Four.

Not in the dance but Kenyon Martin breaking his fibula in a freak accident is the cusa tournament when they were the best team in the country comes to mind.

Ask the Pearlophiles. They're the ones who act like it's unreasonable to expect a Tanning Bed to make an Elite Eight until roughly the year 2050.

Way too much exuberance in this post. You are officially trying too hard, and it undermines the persuasiveness of your point.

You weren't quite as bullish on WVU a month ago. You expressed these sentiments in the context of a Villanova vs. WVU discussion between you and another poster. Oh yeah, that was me.

What tournament was West Virginia in the year before Huggins got there? It's not like he showed up with Pittsnogle, Gansey, Young, Herbert, et al still on the roster.
