Look, we are in a bind and need a fix, even if it's short term.

It's a short term solution, I realize it.. But financially it makes sense. Most people agree that he is one of the best coaches in the country. Give him a chance to redeem himself while helping us win some freaking games.

I have a hard time believing there wont be some parents that don't want their child going to Petrino...plus he goes from ship to ship. No loyalty.

I agree, it's time to end this nonsense. Petrino, Davis or Roman. Go get one of these guys quick.

UT has to set that up in his contract.. That is a given. Petrino knows that. He will have something to prove. His next employer absolutely will have the leverage on his a$$.

I'm starting to think UT football is done, stick a fork in it and turn off the lights.

Here is one to think about. Petrino may be black balled by the SEC as a HC. So what if we went with,

HC- Fulmer 2.5 mil

OC- Petrino 1.1 mil

DC- Chavis 1.1 mil

WR/RC- Martin 300,000

RB/RC- Graham 300,000

OL- Pittman 315,000

LB- Steele 310,000

ST-D. Jones 300,000

DB- Joseph 290,000

DL- Brooks 290,000

If we hired Fulmer, I would just as well keep our whole offensive staff and pay out the a$$ for a DC not named Chavis.

I can't see any way Fulmer would be the HC and not at least try to hire Chavis. You hire those you trust and Chavis is considered one of the best there is. I could see keeping Chaney instead of Petrino as OC. It would save us about a half million dollars. My thinking was Petrino could keep his nose clean for 3-4 years and then take over as HC and Phil could retire.

Kind of a tough call with Petrino. On one hand, he is a damn good coach; however, he is also a slimy POS. The only way I would accept a Petrino hire is if we got him fairly cheap and constructed his contract in a manner that prevented him from easily jumping ship and included some sort of termination clause (ie. do anything stupid like last time and he's gone and the University owes him nothing).

I wouldn't want Fulmer to put Chavis in that situation. He is a hell of a man and he has it made at LSU. I wish him the best of luck there. I would love for him to be here, but not in that situation. That's just me though. Not sayin it wouldn't work.

This is your chance to help yourself because that's clearly all you care about. Just remember I got my :censored: eye's on you.:rtfm:

Yes, let's make one bad situation even worse by hiring a total sleazebag.
Or we could pay 4M that we don't have to take a chance on someone. We could.. and probably will. Petrino ain't as bad as you do good mfers on here make him out to be.

Hell to the NO!! Dude is a scumbag that has a history of leaving schools in utter destruction as he leaves town.

I'd rather rehire Fulmer and I don't want him back at all!!

Let me get u a clue. Fulmer and petrino and tressel are not going to happen. No way, no how, no sir. Thats down right ridikerus. The university isnt going that route. Fulmer would be after every other coach in the country turned us down.....hell maybe we are close to offering phil. Chavis, on the other hand, is absolutely a dark horse. But about as likely as gruden or stoops. Its gonna be a work in progress and hope for the best......again.
