Look, we are in a bind and need a fix, even if it's short term.

Set up the contract so he can't leave without owing a ton of money.. At this point, why not?

Petrino is a good coach and will make Tennessee relevant again.

Or we could pay 4M that we don't have to take a chance on someone. We could.. and probably will. Petrino ain't as bad as you do good mfers on here make him out to be.

May not be. But how many on this forum have ever potentially made their employers a party to a class action lawsuit by hiring a mistress for a job opening over more qualified applicants? That is major baggage folks forget about Petrino in this whole Arkansas affair.

No one denies Petrino's ability as a teaching coach. But he is a danger to the program and university who hires him.

Like he did Arkansas? This should be ample reason to avoid Petrino...

Excellent point. This is what got him fired, not the affair. For this reason, I would be absolutely shocked if he was hired by any SEC school, including UT.

Give it a rest. He hired a cutie that he was messing around with. She used him to get the job, I get it. He got used. She was qualified for the job, just not at all the best person for the job of the applicants... alot like Dooley. Hmm. Wonder if him and Hamilton were :censored:..

I could care less about who he screws around with in his personal life. That isn't what this is all about.

I do care when he puts his employers in jeopardy of massive legal expenses in the process of being down with OPP.

She got the job because she was willing and able to do the job to the head coach. Anyone competing against her for the position would have a strong case to take the University of Arkansas to court for the actions of their employee.

When you put your employer's reputation on the line for a booty call, then you deserve to lose your job and you really shouldn't be surprised to find yourself struggling to get another one.

"Your honor, on behalf of the University of Tennessee, I move that this court give it a rest. As grounds for that motion, we will show that Coach Petrino hired a cutie he was messing around with."

Sounds kinda dumb, doesn't it? It didn't sound any smarter when you said it.

I agree, if he was Spiderman, we would waste his gift on getting :shaking2: rather than helping mankind.. But he ain't, he's a freaking football coach. A short, goofy looking, football coach. He got played by a good looking girl. Damn, cut him some slack.

Tressel petrino butch davis. Throw the moral high ground out the window and lets get us a coach who can win! Everybody will forget what anyone of them did if they win. My two pennies.

People were desperate we will take any of those three and be damn happy. The fact that butch hasn't been given this job is mind blowing Hat is ruining everything. We are the laughing stock of this conference. I am devastated to be a vol right now. We can't even get Chariie Strong to be the head coach of the vols. He chose ****ty louisville which is a basketball school and a school that is in a crappy city with crappy fans. No tradition in football and he chooses this over us. We should all be ashamed, but at least we know strong doesn't have the balls to try and win in the SEC what a P

Really don't see Tressel being an option given his (and UT's) current NCAA issues.

I think that may be best for both parties. Look, we're almost as screwed as he is. Why not let the time run on both while re-building a program and a coach's reputation? Once you really think about it, it makes more sense than not after this day's debacle.
