Looking for a kayak

if you're using it for fishing it's a whole different story.

stability is what matters. I've been in some very tippy models.
I've got a sun dolphin Aruba 10, sit in model, and for the money it's great. very stable and good on flat or light/moderate white water. (the Aruba 8 is horrible.) My 10 is good for a beginner or intermediate , but not what you'd want on class 4 rapids.

A good paddle is also key. And for goodness sake, wear a life jacket. Get one for fishing or kayaking as they are better vented to keep you cool.

I thought about buying me one of those cheap ones at Walmart for fishing. We have a ton of watershed lakes down here that are small, and you can't use a gas motor. I've seen a lot of people fishing out of them.

If you are still looking try to keep bumming until Labor Day. All the big outdoor stores will cut prices to get excess inventory out. I have a 12' perception pescador I got for $350 at academy, right now it's $550. And yes get a good paddle and get it online they will be much cheaper. Once you get a kayak you quickly realize there are unlimited ways to customize and diy them.

what is it and how do you like it?

I think it's a sun dolphin. It's not by any means anything fancy and since it's all I've used I think it's okay. Seems easy enough to steer and keep straight when I want it to. I've only used it for river kayaking so far.
