Someone in my office said their grandson just moved. He’s looking for a fall ball baseball program in the Carter or Kodak communities.

Anyone know of any options?

Thanks.

Carter is a mess right now.
Spot on assessment. My 9yo has played there for 3 years and I had him signed up for coach pitch this spring. Was notified super late in the process that they wouldn't have enough players for a team. I called like 5 different ballparks in the area (including Jefferson City) and nobody had a roster spot available. So now he's playing AYSO and I'll probably go to East Knox in the fall...

Last year all Carter teams had to play elsewhere (mostly Holston Chilhowee?) since the construction/renovations at the Carter park weren't completed in time.

I'm beyond frustrated...

Do you know if he's 5 star, a Prospect, or Elite?
He’s 7 and just wants to play baseball. Of course he’s elite, aren’t all 7 year olds? 😀. Seriously, what happened to the simple days of T-ball and then Little league at 9. Three levels of 7 yo baseball seems a bit much.

It was simple for a long time

Now it's more levels and spending $5,000 on travel ball. I think it ends up turning most kids off the game. It's too much

I agree. I walk the dog at our local baseball complex and see dad's scorching ground balls over and over to prob 7-8 year olds. I have to bite my tongue to not tell him to let the neighborhood kids get up their own game of right field ball (that's what we called it) and have fun with it. Prob learn more anyways 🤷‍♂️. Of course it's none of my business. I do know a family who did ALL the baseball related things....everything...with their two sons. Both played SEC baseball (one for the Vols) and one played in MLB for about 10 years and recently retired. I've heard both boys say they would not have made it to their levels without the over-involvement (my word not theirs) of all the baseball activities growing up.🤷‍♂️

Oh, that's just the start. You have to determine one of those 3 and then decide if he is Rec, All Star, A, AA, AAA, Major. Once you work through that, then you can start the search. Thinking about playing up an age group?

For what it’s worth I just drove through the East Knox ballpark (9500 Asheville Hwy.) The baseball/softball fields seem in good shape. That’s only about 6 miles or so from the Carter ballfields.

I will bet you more than half of the current Vols played travel ball at 7. It is hard in today's world to catch up if you don't. I know you can but the difference in level of play between rec/LL and travel is night and day. Kirby played kid pitch travel at 5 in 8U tournaments and I know a lot of these guys did .
