Looking for job in E. Tenn

Had my interview - they'll probably offer me the job. Right now, they have 30+ per class. Not so sure about that.

No, never been there. If they offer it to me, they want me to accept site unseen. I'll be in TN Oct 10-13, but they can't wait for me to visit the school. I'm uneasy about that.

I've applied for some Extension jobs - interviewed for one 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard anything yet.

Just want a job in TN. I'm a hard worker, and learn quickly. Want to be able to support my wife and I.

Didn't get the job. Probably because I wanted to visit the school before I accepted and they were trying to fill it quickly.

If anyone else knows of any job openings, let me know. I can email a more detailed version of my experience (although, I'd be fine with doing about anything if it paid well enough).

Thanks, I will. Applied for about 25 positions yesterday and 10 today.

BTw, go Vols this weekend. They'll beat FLA by 10.

Have you filled out applications for Knox county schools? http://knoxschools.org/Page/3360

What about Pellissippi State Community College or Walters State Community College?

PSCC has 5 campuses all over Knoxville and WSCC is 45 minutes east of Knoxville with 4 campuses.

You can look at the jobs posted for those two year colleges (which are the two closest to Knoxville) and others by scrolling down the link im posting to the individual college banners and clicking on them. Good luck to you, get back in Big Orange Country!

Yes, I've done all of that. Recently applied for a Biology position at Greenback School in Loudon County. Anyone know someone with that district?

Yeah, I look at the TBR website at least 3 times a week. I look at about 35 different school system websites about twice a week. Usually apply for about 20-40 positions a week. Difficult to get a job when you're out of state.

I can't teach Biology on the university level - my MA is in Education.

Career Magnet Academy / Homepage

Ok, Check out this site. I work for PSCC and this Career Magnet Academy is in the building with us and is the only one of its kind in Tennesse where high school kids are going to learn four different sustainability degrees. When they graduate high school they will also graduate with a Asociates degree in one of the four pathways the kids can go. One of those is teaching.

The high school started August 8 and there is major construction going on now to get the sustainability side ready and is supposed to be done by January.

Look around the CMA website I posted above and see what you think. You may want to contact Principal Faulkner and ask about it and how to apply for any new openings that may be coming up. Good luck!

Seriously, apply at Pellissippi State. I was an adjunct there for a year and I ended up declining a full-time position on the faculty to pursue another career path, but they treat you phenomenally well for a Comm. College.

I've applied for several positions with Pelllissippi State. Problem is, most positions are only Adjunct.

Talked to the Asst Principal at the Career Magnet Academy today. She said for me to send her my resume. They won't have openings until next year, but cool!

That's what I meant by the construction is supposed to be done in January and will open up positions but that is cool. Melissa is very nice I'm glad you got to talk to her and that it could be an option!

Thanks for giving me the 411. She seemed very interested, as I have 15 years experience in Natural Resource Education (5 different zoos and aquariums). Seems like a great place to work.
