Looking forward to next year

This happens every year.
We lose a lot of older guys. But that same OLD team got trounced by 5-7 Florida, Missouri, and Georgia.

So what good is experience if they're talented enough to change the outcome ???

Now the young talent has their opportunity. And they have been here, and we're bringing in guys like Spillman
And we're not so young.
Year 2 guys head up LB
Year 2 and 3 guys head RB
Year 2, 3, and 4 head up DB
4 year guys at online
3 year guys at Dline.

We're not so young....

Because Nico wasn't physically or probably mentally ready for the SEC grind. This kid might be very special, and to get him beaten up before he's ready to lead an SEC team would be coaching malpractice of the highest order. This isn't Madden.
plenty of freshman qbs have played sec football and done well. barring injury you get 2 years from Nico and off to the league if he is what everyone says he is.

Nah. Just nah. Dabo Sweeny lost three of his first four bowl games, had two 6 win seasons, and didn't get 11 wins until his fifth year. He spent four more years at that 10-11 win mark before finally breaking through to win 12 or more games the next five years.

The "it has to happen by year 3" mantra is invented, mainly by perception and by coaches who have early success. What's real is looking for a level of competency and coaching that raises the floor for the program. The higher the floor, the higher the program can reach once its gets its act in gear.

Hell, Nick Saban won 8, 10, and then 8 games in his first three years at LSU - then he had that 13-1 year we don't want to talk about - and then fell back to 8 wins the following year before leaving for the NFL. Again, the three year thing is just a by product of impatience and sports media. If the coaching staff is right, the window is wide open. Just have to continue being competitive in recruiting -- and defense.
Agreed.. stability is the key (unless the coach is an incompetent buffoon AKA Pruitt)… every time you do an overhaul it is like going backwards..next year if we see more progression, then we are headed in the right direction (I know it isn’t sexy, but it is just the way it is) 😂

pruitt was a buffoon of a coach but was an excellent talent evaluator

Who was the last 5-star freshman to start right out of the gate and how did he do?

I'm willing to guarantee that Nico's family, much like the Manning family probably did at TX, set up Nico's first season very carefully with CJH to build his body and mind in order to maximize his performance once he took over as QB1.

This isn't the '80's or '90's anymore where you're just one of the guys, slap on the pads and get out there. This is huge business now, and these high end recruits come in with specific agendas and 'people' who are planning their careers before they ever get on campus.

We might not like to hear it, but it's a whole new world in CFB, just like it's been now for a while in CBB with the 'one-and-done's'. These 5-star HS players are an industry unto themselves that have to be treated differently, like it or not.

Yeah… the guy who recruited JT Shrout and Harrison Bailey while pulling Michael Penix Jr’s offer. Adrien Martinez was an upgrade over those two also and he pulled his offer as well.
