Welcome to VolNation Brian McCat.  Most of us here are respectful to one another.  There are a few who like to take jabs at one another to start something, but we try not to take it personally.  Anyhow, good luck to the cats tomorrow and may the better team win.

Thanks for the welcome. And we have a few of those types of fans, too. I'll always support the players, no matter what. I'll never leave before the clock says 0:00, even if we're down by 50. It's not about the coaching, administration, or even the lousy food at the concession stands. It's about the boys who choose to suit up and play for the school that you love.

Glad to have you aboard, McCat.... you seem like a good guy with a great attitude about what has been admittedly a difficult cause as of late (UK football - much like UT basketball).... a question for you: I keep hearing conflicting reports on this whole Rich Brooks thing... one side says he's a solid coach who inherited a program reeling from the effects of probation and has been plagued by injuries, the other side says he's an old hack who has no business coaching in the SEC (as the modern game has simply passed him by) and has had to more or less get down on his knees and beg not to be fired. (and I, for one, am glad he didn't get fired, as I'm pretty sure David Cutcliffe would have taken that job in a heartbeat!) What side do you sit on?

Welcome to the board!

I've probably sat on both sides of the fence in RB's first 3 years, to be honest. There have been times where I just couldn't fathom another game with him, and we've been teased with visions of what he can do.

At this point, I think that the fair thing to do was to for Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart to give him the thumbs-up for a fourth year. By the way, Barnhart is a former Tennessee Assistant AD. Brooks needs to have a full complement of his players to honestly judge what he can do. I personally think that the man can coach, his staff can recruit and develop them, but I am just not sure how patient the fanbase can be.

We were spoiled, I believe, in how Mumme came in with a splash and fooled some people with quick changes an eye-opening turnaround. However, it's evident that he built those teams by cheating. Now, Brooks has had to come in and rebuild-- something that few other coaches would have wanted to do. But, Brooks has stuck with us through the lean years of probation, and I think that we owe it to him to see what his players can do in his system.

Brooks was almost finished earlier this year after almost losing to D-1AA Idaho State. The offense began to tank, but it's become evident that the reason was because we had no healthy weapons. We went into the Florida game with one healthy starting WR. To this point, we've had 18 season-ending injuries. For a probation-thin team, that's tough to overcome.

Hearsay was that David Cutcliffe wanted the Kentucky job after we fired Curry and after Mumme, but the powers that were couldn't see their way to hire him. It does surprise me that Mitch Barnhart with his former UT ties wouldn't consider Cut.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. It's good to be on a Vol site that's not all about being obnoxious toward opposing fans.
