Looks as though Nebraska is not going to have a spring game…

Portal chaos has certainly changed college sports mostly in a negative way. It has impacted baseball even more

I read that they lost something like 30 players to the portal after the season. That’s brutal. That being said I’d be surprised if opposing coaches really pay that much attention to other teams’ spring games.
They spent all last sping in practice. Had the spring game. Other schools scouting talent. Poached 6 players off the squad rendering his spring work useless as he had to replace 6 players immediately into those roles. Nebraska not only school this happens to. I'm sure it's rampant. Makes sense to close it down and get some use in the fall out of what you worked on in the spring.

with Matt Ruhle saying it makes no sense to let other programs see and evaluate your players due to transfer rules, etc. Obviously, TN‘s already scheduled the O & W game for this year, but do you see the Vols and other programs soon taking the Huskers approach to limit potential transfers post spring practice?
Is this the Nebraska football forum? I never knew vol fans cared about the Huskers

Being reported that USC is following Nebraska’s lead and also dropping its spring game. Of course, I can’t imagine SC draws much of a crowd so they may be doing it as a cost cutting measure.

If you’re worried about players being poached because a Spring game gives players a platform to showcase their talent you got bigger problems. Just imagine if Jack Jancek could’ve hit the portal and left us high and dry after his huge spring game performance. Coaches really overthink things too much sometimes.
