Looks like another UGA mass exodus for Sugar Bowl

The following Dawgs are out for their bowl game;
MIA DAWGS
  • RB Brian Herrien
  • OT Andrew Thomas
  • OT Isaiah Wilson
  • OG Ben Cleveland
  • DB J.R. Reed
  • WR Lawrence Cager
  • WR Dominick Blaylock
  • DT Tyler Clark
  • DB Divaad Wilson
  • OLB Walter Grant
    per ajc.com!

There are a multitude of reasons from not making grades to failed drug tests and minor injuries along with "unspecified"!
If Kirby gets boat raced by Baylor, the wheels are coming off of UGA!!!!

Having seen how one misfortune after another prevented us from playing games at full strength, I sympathize with Georgia. I just see no purpose in snidely mocking or despising them for their bad luck, plus it can happen to us again as well. I guess I just like to believe our fans are better quality people than anyone else's in or out of the SEC. When we're back to beating programs like Georgia's I want it done when they're fully armed, locked and loaded so they can't spew any excuses as to why they lost. I want it to be because they simply got their behinds thoroughly kicked by the Tennessee Volunteers. I assume Baylor peeps feel the same about beating Georgia or anyone else they play.

This is an interesting thread. I disagree with OP and other posters about thinking this is a good thing.

On a real base level, I just don't care about bowls that much anymore. I obviously want to win, but a bowl isn't going to generally change my impression of progress or regression of a team. The most important thing about bowls these days are the practices and getting the next-generation players reps. Georgia could get the doors blown off, and it wouldn't matter a lick (to me at least). Especially with ESD preceding the bowl season. There are just so many bowl games that bowls do not mean what they did 10-15 years ago. The playoffs also detract from their allure.

That being said, why would you ever want Georgia to be missing players in this game? Now Kirby is in a "can't lose" situation. If he loses the game, it's because he had massive holes in his roster. If he wins, he looks like a genius who adapted brilliantly. If you want the wheels to truly come off, you want those players playing and THEN Kirby losing. Now he just has a built in excuse to a loss, and he gets to wag his finger at people who ever insinuate he doesn't discipline his players.

Lastly, it's really hard to sit down and watch a Georgia game and cheer for them. Maybe (maybe) if they are playing UF, and we need Georgia to win (and vice versa), but not cheering for SEC teams is counter intuitive. The post season is different for me. If the SEC makes good showings in the bowls and playoffs, it increases the viability of the brand. So when that playoff committee is deliberating, they have to consider the consistent and dominant showings of the SEC. That could serve us greatly one day if we are neck in neck for a playoff spot.

One, I never enjoy a player being hurt, even a little, no matter who they play for. Second, I hate any kid struggling with grades. Football is just for a few years for the majority of these guys, that education is what they need. I definitely don't wanna see anybody get in trouble for illegal drugs, or dui. That said, I will never pull for Georgia, against anybody. Alabama moutgs, vandy trophy case. After losing to usc, and getting stomped in Atlanta, fans still think they deserved a playoff spot, and get mad if you disagree. I hope Baylor runs them off the field😄

I hope it's an entertaining game.

My how the flavor of bowl games have changed. NFL and CFP have it now so that both fans and players don't take the games as serious, unless you are in the "big 4".
Maybe that's how it should be. Think back to the 1940 Rose bowl. UT shut out every opponent in the season. That's right.. allowed ZERO scores passing, ZERO scores rushing, ZERO field goals, and if you add up the opponents score for the whole season, well you get ZERO.

National championship awarded at the end of the regular season, so back then bowl games were just icing on the cake. Of course the number of bowls were way less, so it was really something to actually get to a bowl. But because it didn't matter on where you ended up being ranked, it wasn't like now. Oh, and because of all that, UT lost the bowl to USC. Got shut out 14-0, but did I tell you it didn't really matter. And if it didn't matter, why am I talking about it now?

That's a good point about the bowls that I had forgotten; to those saying "the BCS/CFP have devalued the bowls", they literally used to mean nothing except bragging rights. They were exhibition games.

I am an SEC homer, but I would like the wheels to start coming off at UGA.

Plus I despise Kirby. I would enjoy a Baylor win.

I'm "SEC SEC SEC" too.
But Kirby is an absolute toilet cake !!
I really just don't like him.
Acts like a complete bee-eye-t-c-h.

Yeah it thrills me to see UGA going through this.

Both starting OTs have declared and will not play. Rumors about a couple RBs also

I can’t say I blame them but it still looks like Potentially another lame bowl performance looming.

Bettors beware

Just glad that this apathy and attitude has not permeated through the UT program....yet (knock on wood).

It's rare I pull for a kid in college to be hurt and I'd say out of six decades of watching it I can count on less than the fingers of one hand the kids who make my short list. UGA had a kid few years back that were he to have been hurt while playing I'd have cheered and sent the one doing it a case of steaks on me. He played OL for UGA and what he did to Tuttle was borderline criminal IMO.

If that list I just posted is anywhere close to accurate, that’s a ton of guys. Baylor may well back door their way in to a W if they come out ready to go and Georgia comes out flat

Maybe Kirby is putting out a list of players that aren’t scheduled thinking it will give an advantage and then have most of those players show up for the game. I have a real hard time believing that many skip the game.

That was a dirty hit on Tuttle.
