Looks like Butch's Offense is indeed like Oregon's

If I remember right when Cinci came to Neyland, his offense wasn't as option oriented as Oregon's. I remember a lot of pro style pass plays out of the shot gun. And as fast/no-huddle as Cinci's offense was, it was a lot like what Chaney did in no huddle last year in that they would look to the sideline for the calls and make checks in necessary. They even went under center on a few run attacks.

Oregon was more of a quick attack, same personnel/minimal subs, catch the defense off guard and quickly run the play, even if it was the same play twice, or even three times.

Yeah but I have a feeling that he is wanting to move even faster than what Chaney did and work from shot gun a lot more. Cause if it's a lot like what Chaney did it wouldn't make since for the O-lineman to drop weight nor would it make sense that the players aren't use to all the running and quickness.

The offense will resemble Oregon the same way the Patriots did, imo. Tempo not necessarily scheme.

#18 in total offense and 35+ points per game is not sucking. Hope the comments are meant to be sarcastic.

Chaney presided over what was, statistically, the best offense in Tennessee's history. The only problem was we had at defense that at times looked like it belonged on a Division III field...

I just thank God that Chaney is GONE !!!!!!!

And Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Paterson, Da'Rick Rogers, and Tyler Bray will thank him for making them millions.

Rivera and Zach Rogers will also be grateful to him for the NFL contracts they get to sign.

DeSean Jackson: Michael Vick 'has a lot' to prove - NFL.com

Talking about everything in practice being 100mph, and him slow-feeding the offense new installs. Sounds identical to what Butch is doing here. I don't think we'll be nearly as read-option oriented, though.

Watch Butch stay here for 3 or 4 seasons, then leave or get fired, then the new coach will try to run a pro style offense but the roster will not have the type of players necessary for that offense. So, we start all over again!

Kinda like Kiffin stripping the roster, so he could make room for new recruits. Then when Dooley came in, the roster was bare......

Damn, Rudy! It's only April of Butch's 1st season. Can we at least get through Sept. before the mass suicides begin?

Really again with this "we will be like Oregon" crap.

No we won't.......Oregon plays 2x faster then Butch's offense and 4x faster then a regular offense. The offenses are completely different besides the fast no huddle aspect.

Watch game film of both teams. /end thread.

Am I the only one that remembers the many 3rds and short that we long balled out to the sideline for an incompletion? All the potential game winning drives that we had that fizzled out to nil and a loss? IMO, our offense was good because of players like Bray, Patterson, and Hunter...and despite Cheney. Thought his play calling was infuriating.

I having a feeling that Butch Jones will not be fired at all but if something happen later in the future he might leave for NFL which I hope he here for very long times!!

Even if the qb isn't that mobile we will still run some read option. Kind of like what Meyer did with Chris Leake except this offense will be fast paced no huddle.

Very excited to see what our offense looks like. What I think we won't see as frequently is the vertical passing game, due to personnel and scheme.

Chaney was just inconsistent. Some drives were a thing of beauty and other times you would be like wtf? Personnel is what made those stats inflate plain and simple. A 5 yd hitch going 80 to the house was almost once a game. Furthermore, when we really needed to sustain a drive or score we fell short every time except for Troy.

Yep-it was Chaney that had Bray ignore wide open receivers in the flat, and forced him to throw the ball to receivers running clear out routes. All Chaney.

Or kind of like some coach in the Big East did last year who split his offense up between a dual threat player, and a pocket passer. Who was that again?....Oh yeah, it was Butch freaking Jones. Maybe our offense will be like his.

I just used the Meyer and Leake example cause Leak wasn't exactly a mobile qb.

No, I remember them all too well. It was unbelievable how he could absolutely kill a drive. Instead of running a play with a 90% or better chance of being successful, he chose to throw the ball a mile, down the sideline, with a probability of 5% or less.

Never understood how people kept praising the guy as an offensive mastermind.

Expecting much better decision making now.
