Looks like Butch's Offense is indeed like Oregon's

No, I remember them all too well. It was unbelievable how he could absolutely kill a drive. Instead of running a play with a 90% or better chance of being successful, he chose to throw the ball a mile, down the sideline, with a probability of 5% or less.

Never understood how people kept praising the guy as an offensive mastermind.

Expecting much better decision making now.

How much of that actually goes on Chaney?

IMO all of it. Just the nature of the beast. If it works he's a genius, if not off with his head.

Kind of hard to fault em tho. Look at this years NFL draft. His play makers were his qb and wr's.

I'm with yaw tho...I miss the ability to play possesion football.

Coordinators must be held accountable on both sides of the ball. It's their responsibility.

Yep-it was Chaney that had Bray ignore wide open receivers in the flat, and forced him to throw the ball to receivers running clear out routes. All Chaney.

Don't get me wrong. Bray also fired me up. I just have to say there were many questionable calls made and some of it has to go on Cheney.

Or kind of like some coach in the Big East did last year who split his offense up between a dual threat player, and a pocket passer. Who was that again?....Oh yeah, it was Butch freaking Jones. Maybe our offense will be like his.

Anything to keep the D off balance .

I agree, the coordinators/HC must be and justifiably so was held accountable.

I'm just not sure that there was some truth to the rumors of Bray doing his on thing on the field. Wich also falls back to the coaches.

Yep.

But it goes both ways. How many times did Tyler do his own thing and make a big play? Coach Chaney got credit for that too.

No doubt, I'm not going to hate on Bray. He has talent but it is unfortunate that for whatever reason, his full potential wasn't reach here.

In hindsight, I think most of the players lost faith in the previous staff early on and it showed.

And I'm definitely with you on missing possesion football!

I just used the Meyer and Leake example cause Leak wasn't exactly a mobile qb.

I know. I am just trying to help those that seem to think every play will feature some sort of zone-read look. I know these people are beyond helpless, so I should probably give it up.

Cheney? As in Dick Cheney? Was the offensive playcalling at Tennessee put on him as part of the Showtime documentary along with Iraq? I missed that part.

I'm not one of those, I'm just saying looking at Jones's offense at Cincinnati even if the qb is not a runner we will still see some of it.

Jim Chaney would completely abandon the running game as soon as we got down in the game. I understand that at times our running game was bad but you can't give up on it. It got to the point in some games that everyone in the stadium knew we were going to pass and it caused a lot of 3 and outs, which in return killed an already bad defense. Not everything was Chaney's fault but that would get me so mad last year. I can't remember many screen's last year either.

I think he sucks also. He had great talent to catch the ball, but his play calling is not good. I hate the sprint draw, and his 3rd and 1 deep ball. He sucked the first 2 years here.

You do realize there were multiple WRs, running multiple routes, and Chaney never made the decision which one to throw to. Right?

How many times did we see a TE wide open and know a deep ball into coverage was coming?
