That’s Napier’s favorite thing to do. Unfortunately he also had a lot of ties in that area and can recruit and close with the best of them. The general tendency is to have a pendulum swing from your predecessor.
So, the big knock on Mullen….recruiting.
Most likely to be a strength of the next head coach at Florida….recruiting
LOL. If you really had to ask that, because you can't see for yourself that I have been a member since September 18, 2013, with close to 30,000 messages ... then it shouldn't be hard for you to understand how I may have overlooked posts concerning Billy Napier's place of origin. It was mentioned 100x a day a year ago or so
You new here ?
Noooo not even...He's a good coach but he's not godlike in any way shape or form...Big difference going from the Sunbelt conference to the SEC...Would he do good?...Yeah maybe but the pressure to win at UF or LSU is tremendous...I would honestly be more afraid of Jamey Chadwell at UF with that offense he would bring to the table...Whew!...Would be a nightmare to try and defend.
I swear on my mothers grave I was thinking the same thing!...It would be easier for him to recruit there as well and his style of offense would be terrifying with the right recruits in place....Yeah I hope Nebraska keeps him there a long time and I also agree that Nebraska needs to go back to thier roots and get a option style of offense in there...That style has always been thier identity and they were successful with it.Some of y’all are gonna think I’m crazy for saying this, but the guy who might scare me most at Florida is a guy they won’t touch…Scott Frost.
Yes, I know he’s failed miserably at Nebraska. I said when he went there it was a bad fit. His offense is a warm weather offense and requires athletes. He had that at UCF. He’d have that at Florida, especially with his prior recruiting ties in that state. I think Frost would be a perfect fit there. Nebraska needs to remember who they are and find a coach who runs smash-mouth option football again. Paul Johnson would’ve made sense. Maybe get the guy from Army.
I definitely wouldn’t say he is scarier than James Franklin. Franklin has thrived in the SEC at the most difficult school to succeed at. We have seen a whole lot of guys like Napier win at small schools then come to the SEC and fall flat. Similar to one or two of the other posters who’ve commented on the thread… I don’t know anything about Napier. Is he an offensive guru? A defensive guy?
His best chance for success is if he’s been on the offensive side of the ball for a long time and has an excellent track record of producing dynamic offenses. That is what wins in today’s game. Ryan day, Lincoln Riley, Lane kiffin, mike leech, Josh Heupel, etc.
If you aren’t that you have to absolutely stockpile talent and out recruit everyone. ALA Nick Saban or Kirby Smart. But that is not a quick fix and sec fan bases aren’t going to sit back and allow a very vanilla scheme the time necessary to match up body to body.
LSU is not best job in nation. Media says something and people run with it.LSU is arguably the best job in the nation and all the good coaches passed on them last time. It's not looking much better this time either.
All three of LSU's most recent HC won a title. All in the BCS or playoff era. 2 of them considered clownish. Any coach worth a damn should consider that the easiest major program to win big at.LSU is not best job in nation. Media says something and people run with it.
OSU, Texas and USC are better for sure. I would say UGA is overall better as well.
Florida was considered best job not too long ago before they fell off.
LSU has never been seen as top 5 until now.
Louisiana is top 5 in NFL players per capita and they have very little competition for that talent. They have great fan support, great facilities and are willing to spend ridiculous money on coaches; it’s an infinitely better job than USC.LSU is not best job in nation.
