Looks like Shoop is back to being a good DC after the Butch experiment.

Miss St D looks good and before anybody says well its Kansas St. Tn had problems stopping any team. Butch must not of let Shoop have any control on D. I bet he is glad to be away from Butch.

I dont think the Vols problems were based on assistant coach issues.

It was all about discipline issues starting at the top.

Butch let the players run the program.

Let's not forget that a lot of Shoop's struggles resulted from player injuries, which seemed to stem from Butch's practice system and S&C program. Moreover, Butch's poor game management (going HUNH after the defense has been on the field for a long time) also pretty much left Shoop's defenses constantly tired in the 2nd Half.

Does not shock me at all that Shoop looks much better with a head coach that actually understands things like development and game strategy.

He has better players at MSU so of course he looks better.

I honestly dont believe that Miss st has overall better players than us. They may at certain positions.

I believe they have been better developed though.

Johhny majors stated it's about the Jimmy's and the Joe's. Well, that's true with coaching staffs being pretty equal. But, it's my opinion after having to suffer through the past 2 coaching staffs that coaching especially the head coach is critical to success.

My case and point is Appalachian st. Look how they perform against superior talent. They are super disciplined well coached players. They play up a level because of this.

After watching the 30 min replay from Feak of last weeks game. I actually feel a little better about where we will be when we play Florida.

If you watch the tape we look extremely slow. But, I believe were playing slow because were thinking to much. At every position. I believe when our players get more comfortable with Pruitt's schemes then things will start coming around. I'm not saying we will compete with Georgia, but I think we can with Florida.

When our players start playing instinctively and get out of their own heads then they will perform better.

Just another daily reminder on what butch jones did to this program. At least I can breathe a little easier knowing all of the administration involved in that hire are now gone and Fulmer can run this athletic department the right way for the first time in over a decade.

Probably don't need to base anything on one game especially against Kansas State. We'll see how they do against the big boys later in the season.

Well, let’s see. Shoop was good at Vandy and Penn St but couldn’t stop anyone here with these guys. Now he’s good again at Miss St.

Pruitt stopped everyone at Alabama but can’t stop WV with these guys.

Somewhere we gonna find out what the ****in problem is but I’m convinced it ain’t “da shoes”.

I know a guy who played defense under Shoop at Tennessee and recently graduated. He would never really tell me anything while he was on the team but now that he has graduated and that staff is gone, he tells me some stories from time to time. Anyway, he thinks really highly of Shoop and basically says what everyone else here has been posting. Butch was constantly micromanaging everything and would never really let Shoop do his own thing without Butch getting involved. He says Butch had a raging ego and couldn’t accept the fact that other people might know better than him in certain areas of the game. For what it’s worth, he still talks to several of the current players and they all say Pruitt is the complete opposite of Butch.
