Losing Nichols really sucks, but here's why I'm not panicking

You do realize that Moore and Chievous is still much more highly rated than most and possibly any players from the Christian college association... I will wait to see how they perform against quality division 1 opponents.

You'll have a good idea of where we are after the 4th game.

Wait until the 7th loss, after we've been clown stomped and completely embarrassed. Then feel free to let your freak flag fly.

Or break away from your pack and do whatever you want.

Wrong. We were clown stomped and embarrassed by Michigan in a 30 point blowout to end the previous season. What happened the following year were the results of overcoming a learning curve of a completly new program.

Did you see Quinton Chievous last night? That's a barely 3* player (some said 2*) and despite it being just a preseason game, he's an SEC player. Same with Armani Moore. Under the radar guy, and I think he can be a really solid 4 year player for UT.

So I'm not overly worried. I hate losing Nichols to Memphis because 2013-2014 could have been special with him. It still can be. But Coach Martin has a plan. He's a smart guy. I'm not sure where we go from here. I'm sure Coach Martin knows what to do. He has a player in mind to not take Austin's place, but still contribute to the team next year.

Well the difference now is we have a basketball coach. We have a coach now that can make players better.:clapping:

Don't overlook Davis.
He 'll be another one of Martin's pleasant surprises.
probably start out playing the 3/4 but Martin will turn him into a 4/5 by his JR season.
Davis sr played low post at 6-9 215. Gained 25 more pounds after college.
You heard it here.

I like Davis. He'll be a 4 next year. Losing Nichols really hurts, but his commitment softens the blow.

I'll get bashed for this, but I don't care. Next year Nichols would definitely have been the better option over does, but by year 3, I'm not 100% that Davis won't be the better player of the 2, he has more upside IMO.

Also, this thread hits a point I've been thinking about...we talk about being desperate for posts now, well Q is playing the 4...is he your typical height F, no, but well see what he can do...there's a chance he carves out his spot at the 4, grows an inch and he's the starting 4 next year with stokes at the 5. Then Davis and Yemi backing those guys up, with Reese also in the fold.

What is "clown stomped"? Is that like getting stomped by someone wearing comically oversized red shoes? I imagined 15 guys jumping out of a Hyundai, stomping someone while juggling and squirting eachother with trick flowers and huge spinning bowties. Am I right?

Obviously. But you can tell they are good ball players other than by judging their play against competition.
You can tell he's a solid player. But just because one is effective against a team like Victory doesn't mean he'll be effective against high-major opponents. Chievous, from what I saw, was doing most of his work yesterday at PF. He's 6-5 and barely over 200 pounds... How is he going to play the four at a high-major level?

Again, he was impressive yesterday, but it's tough to gauge a player's future based off of one preseason game.

Ask Noah and Horford about a guy named Dane Bradshaw.

Must be magic.
But he will.
Be watching the 18th.

Dane was not your typical player.....he made it work and the helter skelter style of defense helped Dane a lot.... Not saying Q can't do it but I will have to see it to believe how effective he can be.

A real gym rat, team player, not the quickest but has ball smarts, a coachable kinda guy

Jeronne is only 6'6" and about 260lbs...Q is 6'5" about 205lbs...another year and he'll probably be up around 220lbs.

I agree we need to see it, but automatically ruling him out because of his size just isn't completely warranted IMO.

Completely ruling him out because of his size isn't warranted. Being skeptical of his ability to play PF because of it is.
