Lou Holtz....

Not sure about the Lou topic because when he comes on I turn the channel. Even if he is talking about the Vols. I can't stand to watch him. Much less listen to him. Fire his spitting sputtering arse.

would be an interesting way to shift power back across the country. Kids start seeing that no sec teams are playing for titles and opt to go to non sec schools. I never understood why the ncaa just didn't keep the bcs computer formula in place. Other than the 2004 season, i can't think of a year it didn't work out the way it was suppose to every year.

Lot of people take it too seriously. I think it is funny he is so bias for his former teams. I can about predict what he is going to say. I love when Mark May jabs at him. The show is humorous that is what ESPN is good at. I wished Corso was still part of show though.

Corso is history don't know if he will be able to sit up in chair next year for 2 hours or not.

Hard to believe an SEC team won't be there.

Auburn will be very good. Alabama and LSU will be absolutely loaded.

Granny has never liked the SEC because we always beat his but. He has been a ND homer even when he coached at other schools. He is a disgrace and should have retired a number of years ago. Of all the bad employees at ESPN, he is the worst.

Not a granny fan, but he is not worse than Vitale. My goodness, when is that idiot going to retire.

Just made his 2014 "bold prediction" on ESPN. Said no SEC team would be selected for the 4 team playoff next year. Huh?

Side note..... he didn't say who the other 3 teams would be besides Notre Dame.

Mods: my bad, inadvertently put thread in recruiting forum. Please move to more appropriate forum
Time to hang it up, Lou.

Not necessarily defending Lou, but the "bold" predictions are usually ones that you don't think will actually come true (in most cases) but it's almost like it's supposed to be a controversial prediction.

The NFL Network does them every week. Now in Granny's case, he may not understand the concept, but if he does, he probably doesn't really think the SEC won't have a team in the playoffs.

Who would you have put in besides Nebraska and what is their case? If the team you mentioned wasn't undefeated, it's a subjective argument. One I would rather have a non biased system analyzing as opposed to non qualified super fans.

That was just a messed up year as far as the second team. Miami would have beaten whoever they played, so I don't have a big problem with 2001.

On a side note, did any of you notice the life size Peyton Manning portrait behind Mark May when him and Holtz are talking in the espn studio?

That has been up the past week that I've noticed.

Also, did anyone else see Lou actually say something smart that could be applied to life? talking about Mack Brown coaching he said you need

1. Something to do
2. Someone to love
3. Someone to look after
4. Something to hope for

That's actually not terrible, for him its easily the best thing he's spat in 15 years.

Yes I noticed it a while back, just kept waiting for someone to start a thread about it. I also heard Holtz say that, it was kinda impressive for that old geezer.

I never cared for him much until 2008 when I went out to the Tennessee UCLA game. Game day was there and Holtz was so nice and so gracious to the UT fans. He went out of his way & bent over backwards to be nice & accommodating to everyone, especially the UT fans. On the other hand Mark May was a complete tool! He wouldn't even look at anyone much less talk to them. Can't stand that douche to this day!

Nice I was there. Jack Daniels had me talking like Lou.

Any year when a BCS conference team had the same record as the #2 team, yet didn't have a chance to play for the national title.

Lou isn't even the worst analyst at the table. Mark May is just about my least favorite talking head around

That's only until Tebow arrives. Then it will be no contest who is the worst (my personal no homo flags automatically go up every time he opens his mouth).

I agree. Should it matter more WHEN you lose than WHO you lose to? I don't think it should matter as much as it does. I want to see the best teams play. That being said, I think teams that don't win their conference should not be able to play for a national title. Those two concepts are greatly at odds with each other when choosing who will play for the NT. It will be interesting to see how this playoff system takes on that conundrum.
