Love Me Some Whataburger

1990's-2000s Sonic or current Sonic? Huge difference. Old Sonic was 100 legit.

It's sad what Sonic has done to itself. Burger patty is always like it came out of the ice box. Cold tots.

The scrambled burger at the Piggy Park drive-in, Thomaston, GA is a delight. Hope for people's sake it is still open.
I'd say 2010s Sonic. It has been a while since I have had it.

Back in the day I remember McDonald’s would sell hamburgers for .29 and cheeseburgers for .39 for a limited time. I’d buy 20 each of them and put them in the freezer to reheat later after coming home from the clubs.

I remember a good ole bacon bit sandwich. Bread, mayo, and bacos.

I’ve only ever had Whataburger’s grilled chicken sandwich, because when I went there I was on a diet, and it was very good. Better than Chick-Fil-A’s grilled chicken.

I’d eat Dairy Queen over Crapaburger. Hell, I’d eat Checkers over it too
Dang. I had totally forgot there's a new Checkers/Rally's here in town. They used to be soooo goood. Not sure if that's still true.

Nothing wrong with a DQ burger. Or a Whopper. Or the BK original chicken sandwich for that matter. Or the thickburger mushroom n swiss. Some crappy chain food is cult level.

McD's hamburger have proven over time all you need to do is bag 'em, tag 'em, and store 'em. No need to freeze.

I decided to give my 2 German Shepherds a treat yesterday and ran into McD's and bought them a plain hamburger....$1.89 each!1000001380.jpg

Well arent the fries really good at Checkers? Whataburger better burgers, Checkers better fries. Kind of a wash

What about In-N-Out or Culvers?
Hot take, but Culver's is better than In-N-Out. Both the burgers and fries. I love In-N-Out, but Culver's has them beat. Their frozen custard is really good too.

The thing nobody talks about is that In-N-Out is completely mediocre (not bad, just nothing special) if you don't get it animal style. The fries in particular. They are just so plain without it.

Haven't had it in a long time but loved their burger when I lived in AZ 20yrs ago. Occasionally we'd have a vendor bring in a bag full of breakfast taquitos and they'd get destroyed as well.

I find INO and Culvers to be fairly similar burgers. Both are great. I don't think INO fries are all that good and often skip them.

My hot take: The fry lovers burger at Checkers is currently my favorite fast food sandwich. They also have the best fries. Checkers seems to always give me fresh food that is hot. Their app usually has some decent coupons, too.

Went fishing at Lake Fork TX a few years ago and there's not much there other than the lake. The closest thing to a real town was Mineola and they had a Whataburger that stayed open late. We ended up there several times coming off the lake. Glad it was there.

As an aside if it was still open in the little gas station/pro shop there was a Hunt Brothers Pizza. I can't speak for the chain as a whole but what I got on their loaded personal'ish sized pizza was inedible by hand. It weighed well over 2lb. I've never seen toppings piled on like that. We all were pretty hungry after the morning run and still none of us managed to eat more than half of what we jokingly called our "pizza cake". Anybody know if they're all like that or was that an outlier for us?

Hunt Bros. is good IF fresh. Especially for gas station pizza. I'll also throw RaceTrac into the ring for decent enough gas station pizza.

I couldn't tell you where the nearest Checkers is (if there is one)? But we've been buying the Checkers frozen fries from Walmart and they are some of the best fries I have ever had.

Those are pretty good. My go to frozen fries are the Nathan’s jumbo crinkle cut.

We will go to the gas station and get a Hunt Brothers all meat pizza for $11 and have one of the best in town. Godfathers is also surviving as gas station pizza and is very good too.

Pretty much true of any pizza. Even local fine dining wood fired pizza. We actually even do Little Caeser a good bit. Before Dominos or Pizza Hut, which we never eat. But our town also has several really good local pizza parlors. My fav is a small 7-8 outlet chain in KY/TN called Giovanni's Pizza Power.
