Love Me Some Whataburger

Rumors have been the former Steak and Shake at Turkey Creek to start. Been awhile since I've heard anything, though. I also never drive by there.

Seems in a year or two there's a decent chance Knoxville with have Whataburger and In N Out.

I was so excited to try it when I was last in AZ. It was fine, but I found it highly overrated and it comes nowhere near In N Out. Just seemed like a high class Jack in the Box.

I sincerely mean no offense op, but the one we tried was like a generic sonic. It just wasn't that good.
Post #3 might explain the discrepancy. My daughter lived on Oklahoma City and she was a regular at the one near her house. I'll have to say it was very good at least at that particular one. This has been many years ago.

I'm sure I'll get contested here, having never had In/Out or WhatkindaBurger but in my experience of eating very good over priced burgers I find it hard to beat Five guys or Fuddruckers.

Having said that...I confess I have not had Five Guys or Fuddruckers in quite some time (multiple years), so I can't speak to the quality being the same that I recall. Fuddruckers is mostly cause just not having one around to go to, and Five Guys I could not see paying near $20 anymore for one person to have a single patty, fries, and drinks. Pretty sure Five Guys fries were in their own league at some point. And kudos points to Arby's for putting out quite a good burger.

Never had In/OUT but Whataburger is bad all the way around, service and food (at least at the one here) suck. Five Guys is Ok but terribly overpriced.

That's what i remember. When We did go to 5Guys, I thought it was very good. My very first trip to 5Guys, I didn't know what a Junior was so I got the regular, and it was roughly Ho Mouth thick double patty. Learned quickly the more affordable Junior was not a kids burger, but a full size single. We also learned to order only one fries. And to not gorge out on the world's best roasted peanuts before your meal is ready. If 5Guys quality is still the same, I'm inlcined to wonder why they are not in the argument that always seems to be In/Out v. Whatagurger. But, the current pricing is what keeps us out of 5Guys for sure.

If one has not had one of the new Arby's burgers, it is a must try. I was impressed, and with specialty burger shop prices the way they are, $12 for a Arby's burger combo is a good deal. They are thick enough that you have to request them well done if you do not like medium to medium well burgers. And the quality is more than acceptable and above average.

Now...for the ultimate and most unheralded burger I have ever eaten hands down is at Emmy Squared in Nashville. I've only been to the Gulch location. Billed as a pizza joint, but with other offerings. A featured item is...'Nashville’s Battle of the Burger winner Le Big Matt Burger.' This is the burger I had there and was outrageous.

And a look at hte pizza since it's actually a pizza joint:

Other taste bud pleasers I had at Emmy Squared on that trip:
The meatballs were delicious from hte shareables menu. As well as the Zia waffle fries. The roasted butternut and brussles. Wife tried a pizza she said was super good. And we saw accross the street when leaving a place called The Gumbo Brothers. We have not been back to try that, but having devloped a keen taste for cajun due to my wife and her family, I really want to hit that joint and see if it's legit.

The absolute best burger hands down is Top Hog (no relation) in Gallatin.

Or East Port Marina on Dale Hollow

If you've had Sonic's burger and fries, you've had Whataburger's burger and fries. Also, the last couple times I went there the wait time was awful.

Their food is fine, but it is not worth getting fired up over. The Texas way overrate it.
