I wonder if he is successful here and say in 5 years Purdue comes knocking will he leave? I assume that would be his "dream job".

You know where I first heard of Martin? It was a Purdue fan on another board who thinks Painter is leaving for Missouri (he has a bad relationship with the AD at Purdue). Not sure if they are just in a panic, but guess who they want to replace Painter? Martin.

I'm hearing the same story. Living in Indy i am surrounded by purdue fans...unfortunately. Weird thing is i never heard much negative on painter until today. Now all of the sudden I'm hearing there might be some truth to the painter to mizzou rumor...evidently purdue is cheap and won't pay up...and he and the AD don't get along to well. The purdue fans/alum I've talked to tonight were hoping for cuonzo if/when painter leaves.

Some of this coming from purdue fans might be over their frustration of Butler and UK being in the final four...while Purdue crashed and burned in a year when their fans thought they had a great shot at a final four run..even without hummel.

I imagine that if he left on unfriendly terms, Martin probably wouldn't take the job, if Martin and Painter are tight.
