Lowest SEC school on rivals 2017

Your second to last sentence is just wrong. This class is struggling at the moment. The lawsuit is having a significant impact. Hopefully with a very good season, recruiting will pick up.

My 2nd to last sentence from that post says this:

We were way behind the 8 ball in those 3 classes right up until NSD.

I corrected myself right after in my next post. Go back & look! The lawsuit is probably having an impact right now but like you said & what I believe we will have a great coming season & gain recruits for the 2017 class.

I think it's silly to think the lawsuit is impacting recruiting... I also think it's silly to worry about it in April. Other than the Tee Higgins de-commitment things are shaping up fine and should pick up even more after the season we are about to have.

Fortenberry was on 3HL today & said plenty of schools are using the lawsuit to negative recruit against us.

I made the argument and EVERYONE just laughed, mocked, and called me an idiot. Typical VN wearing orange shades all the time.

Though I am sure some rival coaches may try to use the lawsuit to negatively recruit, I don't think it is on too many high school players minds. Some Mothers and Aunts? Maybe, but players? No.

Once the O&W game is over, coaches will get back on the road. Way too early to get our panties in a wad over it.

Being in on highly touted recruits hasn't seemed to stop several teams from already locking down talent. Not saying we won't end up ok but it is frustrating to see us ranked 55 in anything football related. We need one or two guys to go ahead pull the trigger and become ambassadors for new recruits like some have in the past (Kelly, Mckenzie, etc..)

I agree. Hopefully one of our instate kids can committ, and give this class a boost. We really need to win out on some of our higher ranked instate kids.

And Kentucky was number 1 in the nation for a good chunk of the summer in the 14 class. Bama was number 10 going into signing day this February.

What ever happened to Dorian Banks? Does anybody remember him besides me? Well, just to refresh our memories, Dorian was/is a fine athlete from Sevierville. And he was our first commit in the class of 15'. A fine player, but undersized and just not a SEC caliber talent (kinda like Devron Young). We took a commitment from Dorian Banks rather like we accepted, I believe, a couple that we have right now. Dorian was quietly dropped when the scolly was needed to land a bigger and better catch. So don't be too surprised to see more of this happen. As most of us accept, it happens in every program. We do no have a good start on our 2017 recruiting class. We haven't landed several we had hoped to have by now, we've had stellar talent give us the nod then look away, and the actual commits we have now (with one exception) just aren't very good football players. The 2015 class turned out well, and it did so because we began to receive pledges from kids who not only committed to us; they recruited, campaigned, for us. We don't have that happening yet.
IMO three influences exerted are crucial on a recruits final choice of where to commit as an athlete, those influences are: coaches (HS/college), Family, and Peers. Theses influences are generic of course, and are stated in no declared order of importance. Too, in a few......and sadly dwindling number of......cases loyalty to state or school will count too.
CBJ and Co. have a job of work on their hands. We Must land a number of high quality commitments soon because as early as it is, still, the work of building Class 17' is not well begun. This weekend at the Orange and White game would be a great place and time to begin construction.
GO VOLS!

Are we taking a QB in this class? I assume so... Seems like you gotta get in on big time QB before a class starts to take shape. Obviously it's not a QB every time but those are the guys that tend to commit early and start recruiting for us at all the camps.

Coaches will use anything and everything possible to negative recruit especially in the SEC but you really don't know that it is having any impact with recruits at all... We have plenty ammunition to counter that with.

Yep. Coach Jones is going to take commitments from players who just aren't any good. I mean, just look at the evidence. Oh. wait.

No. Our recruiting has changed a lot over the last 2-3 years. We are in with a lot of highly sought players. Consequently, these kids tend to commit later because of the competition. We're fine. Our 2017 class will be very good when all is said and done. The impact of the lawsuit will diminish with time. I think most people realize it is just a money grab and a vendetta by certain ex administration people.

Were in on big timers every single year. Just never can finish up for some reason
