The years come and go, coaches come and go and players come and go. But one thing never changes, LSU has as much talent as anybody but is the dumbest team in college football.

1. Score go-ahead TD and wr has to taunt defenders resulting in Unsportsman like conduct penalty. Result the kick from the 20 rather than the 35 goes to the 10 instead of 5 yards deep in the end zone and USC returns it about 70 yards to set up a FG.

2. They stop USC on 4th down around the 35 but Tiger defender takes off helmet to celebrate so instead of good field position on the 35 they start at the 20 and end up punting.

3. End of game a targeting penalty on USC receiver sets the Trojans up 15 yards closer to the goalline for game winning TD

No wonder Brian Kelly slammed the table in frustration at his post game presser.

My dad and I were watching this game together and we said the same thing. For some reason these kids feel they have to show someone up or do something stupid and get penalized. I’ve never been a football coach but I think I’d make those kids basically just run all week..you play a pivotal role in costing your team a game

The Sunday night LSU college football openers are always entertaining. Each year, they find a new and creative way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I hope the broadcasters never stop scheduling it for Sunday night.

Do you want to know a secret? Brian Kelly is vastly overrated as a coach. He's been blowing a couple of games like this every year since he's been at LSU. I expected them to lose some silly way. They did.

When your geritol drinking coach is making stupid dance videos with recruits.....expect those recruits to do stupid stuff on the field.

Despite that, Kelly's dumbest move was not kicking the FG on LSU's opening drive. This 3 points would have won it in regulation for LSU.

Brian Kelly took the blame for the lack of discipline his players showed. Rightfully so.
A good coach gets it fixed, and Kelly is a good coach. This season will be a good look into how his time in Baton Rouge will go.
I believe it will be a wash rinse repeat of ND. Always in the hunt but never the big prize. I would hate to be a LSU player this week. Is Kelly a hot head, it is the first game and a loss to a good opponent; but, not a great one. Kelly has killer instinct but the players do not? This loss was about coaching. Transfer Portal also be an indicator.

didn't go to overtime. or did I miss something? final score was 27-20. I agree it may have changed the complexion of the game but who knows. CBJ took a FG against Oklahoma from the 1 inch line. and Cost the Vols a win.

Stepping on your sack is the most humiliating way to lose.

How does one fix players acting a fool? You do anything to embarrass them and they hit the portal. LOL

Should not have recruited such dumbasses to begin with. Kelly has a bad track record with this. He recruited from the portal last year, mal-contents from A&M and Syracuse, who continued to be trouble, contributing little to nothing.

That was when I knew CBJ was in over his head and not the coach for us.
That sent a message to his team that he didn’t trust them to get one freaking yard to win the game after they worked their butts of all offseason for the opportunity. 🤯
That was one stupid move……..🤬

Hard for a coach to fix it, but peer pressure sure can. IMHO, that is why, even though it sounds trite, culture matters. I really applaud Heupel for setting a standard and expecting the team to make it happen.

Arrrgh, I thought it was OT. I was mistaken.

Kekjy should have still taken the points in the first drive.
