I agree with you that there has been an epic meltdown on TD in regards to our coaching search for some time now! Hell, I couldn’t take it anymore, which is why I’ve spent the past week on Volnation! I’m glad I have too, because I’ve met some really cool people here! Y’all have been great!

However, they are not in a meltdown right now. I’d say about 80% are anywhere from “good to “great” with hiring Johnson. 10% was going to meltdown if it wasn't TV no matter who was hired, and 10% would meltdown bc that’s just all they know how to do! I for one would have been happier with Godwin, but Johnson is a hell of a coach and I’m very happy with the hire! But I’m sensible unlike many of my counterparts. I wish Johnson would bring Yeskie with him, but that’s not happening. Overall, I’m glad CTV is staying a Vol! He’s great here, and I’m happy for y’all. But, others will most definitely come knocking, so hopefully a new contract is being finalized!

That’s a pretty good ratio of melt down threads, IMO. I really don’t care other than the fact so many LSU fans have been nasty towards Vols fans on Twitter. You seem nice, but you’re definitely an outlier based on experiences this year. I always like LSU baseball prior to this year.

It’s a good hire, but like you I would have preferred Godwin if I were an LSU fan.

TigerMan, I lived in Louisiana for three years, and you remind me of my friends there. I loved the people of Louisiana - we felt welcome from the day we moved there. Some of my buddies from my time there are diehard LSU fans, and tailgating with them was epic!

I hear ya. And it’s all over something stupid too. Why coach PM felt the need to call your fans “nasty” or whatever the hell he said was just so dumb. Now, we have a new rivalry brewing in baseball between our programs, which is awesome! Unfortunately, it’s for all the wrong reasons, which just sucks. Overall though, as of now, TV is a Vol, Johnson is a Tiger, and that means the SEC is even stronger! The SEC is just awesome man, and I love when all of our programs are at its best!

I’m from Louisiana, but I’ve lived most of my life in Ohio. Most of my family still lives down there though, and I make at least 3-4 trips a year down there. Well, I use to anyway. Got sick a few years ago, and I’m just lucky to be above ground these days (thank you Lord!!). I still go as much as I can though. My family and friends are good, decent people, and we’d welcome the same into our homes regardless of which school you root for! I believe that’s the same for most of us from the south! Good people and good times! And yes, we love our tailgating for sure!

You need to open up the threads to see people defending the hire. Although, my advice is to just stay away from that place. Look, I love LSU. Always have. Got my grad degree there. Every family member of mine has a degree from there. It’s just in our blood. But TD is toxic! You can find really good conversation, but you have to wade through a ton of crap to get to it. If you’re not a die hard fan like me, it’s not even close to being worth it. And most of the info is garbage anyway.

I think Godwin would have been a better hire, but I do think one of the strengths of Johnson is that everything I have read has said he is a true "player's coach" similar to Vitello and that is why he is such a strong recruiter. I'd bet a personality like that will go a long way in convincing any players on the roster (or commits) thinking of jumping ship to rethink things, which that alone is a big win for at least the short term, because if Johnson can just keep his young talent from looking elsewhere after a coaching change, he is going to have a STACKED team next year to get his career started.
