Any ideas?

seastrunk's mom asked for money when she went on her cal recruiting visit and that is why cal backed off immediately. it's reported she desperately wanted her son to go to lsu. i'll let you connect the dots.

That can't be good at all.

I figured its the Lyles domino effect in action

The good news is he had dealings with Auburn too

How is that bad? He didn't end up at LSU. I could see how it would be bad for the ducks though. Maybe I'm missing the point.

lyles reportably got seastrunks mom taken off as guardian for seastrunk because she refused to sign an loi for anyone but lsu. might speak to oregon not willing to pay his mom and lsu did. even if lsu just offered the money they'd be in deep trouble.

Yeah, how hard has Mississippi State been slammed in the wake of the Cam Newton stuff?

Anyway, I don't know what this is about. LSU is one of those schools I actually don't super-hate.

I dont think the COI meeting has anything to do with seastrunk, I think it is a meeting to find out about the DJ McCarthy/Aikeem Hicks stuff.

Also a rumor about Patrick Peterson. Something like aTm was told they'd have to beat $80K to get him.

I think Alabama and Tennessee benefit the most in Louisiana if something big happens with LSU. Saban's connection along with Dooley and Joseph's connection could be huge for both programs.

Seriously, this meeting has nothing more to it than the punishment for the DJ McCarthy/Aikeem Hicks stuff, which wont be much due to the way that LSU handled it and promptly fired McCarthy

Robinson said its either that, or there is a second investigation going on at LSU

He doesnt believe it has anything to do with Lyles due to the timing

I sure hope so, and if you, Droski, can think of this scenario, it leaves me with a faint hint of hope.

Very interesting indeed. Looks like the first game of next season will have more than just a couple secondary headlines to go with it.

Gray area. I know this is OT from the OP, but question for droski: if Oregon is found to be clear of any wrongdoing by the NCAA, what will be your reaction?

And back on-topic, here's a link to the infractions: http://www.lsusports.net/pdf8/729754.pdf

Here is the substance of the allegations in the NOA. Nothing really major, but worse than what Kiffin is alleged to have done at Tennessee. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

5. Between August 1, 2008, through April 1, 2010 approximately 3,669 impermissible recruiting calls were placed or received by the football staff.

6. On July 22 and September 3, 2009 a football recruit violated the principles of ethical-conduct legislation when he knowingly provided false and misleading information to the institution concerning his summer housing and transportation arrangements.

7. It is alleged that during the 2008-09 academic year, assistant football coach _______ violated the principles of ethical conduct in that his knowing involvement in Allegation Nos. 1 and 4 of this inquiry demonstrated a knowing effort on his part to operate the institution's intercollegiate football program contrary to NCAA legislation.

Well, you've got eligibility concerns, gross disregard of NCAA rules, and "providing false and misleading information". Should be fun.
