Wouldn't it be crazy if USC got beat this weekend by UCLA and LSU or PSU went to the National Championship?

should be penn st. lsu to just doesnt have it.

penn st is a damn good football team.

and it is funny b/c both of these teams should still be undefeated.

LSU is a more complete team I believe... both of their defenses are pretty sick.

I think LSU should get in before PSU if that were to happen. But I supposed it would be a nice story for JoePa to get to one. You can't argue with 7-1 in the SEC

The media would love the LSU matchup.....it would be the comeback of Louisiana. This would be all emotional and huge buildup post-Katrina. UT was deemed 'hope-killers' after beating LSU. This could potentially be LSU's redemption for the state.

I think the media would rather see Penn State in the Rose Bowl than LSU. First off, it's freaking JoePa. He is still the most recognizable personality in all of college football. Second, you have to compare who the losses are to:

LSU's loss to Tennessee: Kind of pathetic. They were outgunned by us in the second half. Folks, we had a losing record this season and we looked like the third ranked team in the country in that second half and OT. Seeing as we went 5-6 with a loss to Vander-freakin'-bilt, this is one pretty bad blemish on LSU's record and I think enough to keep them out of the title game.

Penn State's loss to Michigan: Not so bad in my opinion. Yes, Michigan, like Tennessee was a team that fell well short of expectations. But not nearly as bad as we did. Michigan has still salvaged a 7-4 record, including a 4-game winning streak starting with Penn State. If you didn't catch it, it was a hell of a game. Both teams played hard all the way through as Michigan got the game-winning score as time expired unlike LSU who was dominated all second half. Carr definitley had the Wolverines turning things around, and after a close game against the Buckeyes, Michigan is still gaining some good momentum going into their bowl game.

Sorry to all you SEC fans, but the advantage has got to go to Penn State.

i hate to do it but i agree with you...the TN loss much worse than the PSU loss...plus PSU was on the road...

And look at the schedules...ASU that LSU played turned out to be a dud, and LSU played App St.? PSU gets the nod...PSU beat Ohio St also....

But to be clear, if USC lost, they would still get in the NC game....they wouldn't fall further than 2. For either one to have a shot, you'd need TX to lose in a HUGE upset against Colorado...

The media loves emotion and appeal. Nothing better than a Louisiana game. They'd have half-time specials about the traveling and hardships the players have coped with and overcome. They'd show Jamarcus Russell with Fats Domino. The players helping hurricane victims with food and shelter.

No matter how much JoePa is to college football, they'd go soooo much more for the "football team overcomes adversity on and off the field" than JoePa.

Actually no... I am a huge bama fan... But im also a college football fan... I think you guys deserved to win that game... First you came from 21 points down then it was a very wierd situation to begin with.... you guys deserved it. I also dont think that bama fans hate UT as much as your coach now that we have won a couple against you and he kinda had a failure of a season look for it to calm down some...

well thanks...

and yeah, i think our rivalry is a little better now....you guys were w/out a loss for 10 years, then we went on a 7 year win streak, you gusy won one, we won two, now you've won won...so in the last, what 21 years, the standings are 9-11-1 against you guys....and it's 2-2 over the last 4 years...

Looks like the rivalry is back on as far as i'm concerned...and i've alwasys thought this was more of a respectful rivalry anyway...i know we don't like each other...it's easy to build up dislike for one another when there are streaks like that....there probably weren't too many times in the 80's when you didn't think you'd lose to us, and there weren't too many times in the mid/late 90's and early 00's when i didn't think we'd lose to you guys....now it's a bit more even...

Here's to next October in Knoxville...Go Vols. :post-20645-1119625378:

From what I've heard, even if USC loses they still go to the NC game - wouldn't be the first time (see Oklahoma).

It'll never happen. SC will kill ucla. Hypothetically though, I think LSU should go before PSU.
