VOLS GETTING TO THE LINE LATELY
• In its 11 games prior to entering SEC play, Tennessee attempted just 13.0 free throws per game. But through six conference outings, the Vols are shooting an average of 21.7 free throws per game.
• Kennedy Chandler (23), Santiago Vescovi (23), and Zakai Zeigler (20) lead the team in free-throw attempts during SEC play.
• In each of the last four seasons, Tennessee has shot at least 75 percent at the charity stripe.
• But since the start of SEC play, this season's Vols are shooting an uncharacteristic 68 percent (88 of 130).

I wish that he would have done more at Vandy. He’s great if left open at a spot. I’d like to see him score more often while moving.
I think that is another year away. Think about the quickness that Vescovi has shown ... none during the season, but when came back to school a year later ... his quickness has improved.

Powell in the NBA? He’s going to need more development than any TN player ever that I’m familiar with.
You are 100% right. Shot is too slow, Feet are too slow, No handles, Not strong enough, Defense is based solely on his length ... not NBA material .. needs 2 years to fix those items. Needs to add 20 lbs of muscle, jump rope, learn to defend with his feet and body and take some yoga classes. :^))))))

Heard anything about Days for LSU ? Eason and Days are the 2 guys that scare me the most for the Tigers.
Edit: my bad, quoted the wrong poster and post. I meant to ask @bleedingTNorange

the quote was "if he was trying to get to the league" , correct ? I don't know his plans/wants or needs . Now , he is a young man that has played a covid shortened frosh year and did pretty good till he had a concussion. A 6-foot-6 guard from Kentucky, Powell was one of the nation's standout freshmen early in last season. He scored 26 points in back-to-back games against South Alabama and Memphis, and was shooting 44.2% from 3-point range. Through 10 games, he averaged 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Now he is getting some time lets see how it plays out for the next 3 , possibly up to 4 years . I liked his game with Auburn , he has not pressed any issues on getting his shot by putting the ball on the floor in Rick Barnes system. I expect good things from him before the end of the season, hopefully tomorrow night .

No worries.
I think this game is going to be challenging for LSU.
They could be leg weary. Not saying they will be ... but they had an emotional disappointment @ ALA.
Xavier Pinson knee and Darius Day ankle will be less than 100% ... and that is assuming that they play.
Will Wade is still scheming trying to figure out ways to get the refs to call less fouls on his players.

Last game against TN had 44 total fouls in the game. My bet is the number will be higher on Saturday.

Junior guard Josiah-Jordan James will be a game-time decision on Saturday against LSU, according to head coach Rick Barnes.

“We’re counting on it," Barnes said of James on Friday. "He’s working his way back. It will really be a game-time decision. But, again, we’re trying to work his way back, that’s what he’s trying to do.”

Barnes said on Friday the issue for James is not a concussion.

“He just got hit," Barnes said. "He had a little cut above his eye, in the forehead.”

LSU is coming off a 70-67 loss at Alabama on Wednesday and dealing with injury questions of its own. Forward Darius Days left the game in the first half with an ankle injury and guardXavier Pinson missed a third straight game, dating back to the knee injury he suffered against the Vols.

3:30 CT Bengals at Titans...5:00 LSU at Tennessee...7:15 49ers at Packers.....what an afternoon/evening of sports! Hope this is a good weekend for the home teams. After watching the UT at Vandy game and recalling the aaaargh UT at LSU game a week or so ago, we need to be a) a lot more intense and tough as it will be a battle and we will get screwed by the referees, b) Zeigler and Chandler, when they are playing good defense and not fouling out, are a tough pill for anyone and finally c) I thought Coach Barnes had a good handle on substitutions at Vandy. Fulkerson is the late second half guy that plays with heart and handles pressure given his experience. I would play Baily, Zeigler, Powell, PLAV, and ORN early and close with SV, Fulkerson, Chandler, BHH, and whoever of the ORN, BHH,JJJ, etc bigger, heavier, tougher playing guys are playing well and tough. Go Big Orange! Big Game at home. You can do this!

I wonder how much PT Mashack gets and will the other two freshmen (Deboundje and Aidoo) check in? Needless to say, the post rotation will be a point of interest. I also wonder if CRB makes the two platoon initial substitution again with Fulk and BHH checking in together.
