So, if someone is moronic enough to drink and drive, personal responsibility is out the window and we blame LSU?

It's not drinking and driving, it's the fact that people will have been up for hours on end.

We can take LSU, that's for sure. They talked tonight like we are playing in Baton Rouge. Who knows.........?

C'mon fellas. Give us a break. It was our opening night in a hostile atmosphere under a new coach against a ranked team with more than just football on the mind. Surely we can be afforded a little credit for a hard win.

I am pretty impressed with it. Arizona State's passing game is no joke.

USC only allowed 7 points from them and Cal shut them out last year, but every game other than that ASU's pass game rolled.

This sure is a strange season of college football.

No lie, pal. I hate to admit it, but in the long line of upsets in the past two weeks, this is one I thought sure would be among them. I am most pleased to be proven wrong. Geaux tigers.

I didn't get to see the game, so let me ask a Tiger fan. Great ASU offense? Bad LSU defense? Mix of the two?

They have an offense that was definitely better tuned than ours. But we weren't given a home opener, either. Our defense was surprisingly sluggish. I'm used to the rabid, Sabanesque, Marcus-Spears type defense. I'm hoping Pellini will get it together, at least by the time the Vols come a-knocking. Mix of the two, definitely. We got some breaks on this game, make no mistake. But that's the way the game is played. It's as much to their discredit as it is to our luck that we made those plays on special teams. Games are often lost because of mistakes within the control of the loser, in my opinion.

Honest, tho. If anyone unseats USC in the regular season this year, I bet it's either ASU or Cal.

Very wise words. I wish I didn't have to work so I could have watched it. Would have made me feel better about idiot fans who confuse the Pac-10 with the WAC.

As for USC, you have to remember Notre Dame and Oregon are also in the mix. Weis's team is looking like the real deal now, and the Ducks' only real drawback is the pass defense. But last year OSU had no run game and still nearly pulled it off, not to mention Autzen Stadium is one of the best homefield advantages in the country.

I just can't believe the assholes at LSU insist on playing the game at night.

I mean I don't care.  I'm not leaving till Sunday either way, but hell, the people that can't stay in BR, don't need to be driving 250 miles at 2am.

That is BS. It is stupid to put all fans of the game in a situation where they have to drive late at night, especially when 95% of everyone there has been drinking all day. A game is a game, whether at night or during the afternoon.

Well, it was unusual circumstances for an opening game with a new coach. Unexpectedly on the road against a top-15 opponent with a quarterback that will play in the NFL.

LSU's offense had a lot of the usual first-game rustiness (dropped passes, foolish penalties) early, but they improved as the game went on and shined in the 4th quarter. The offense was balanced, the special teams were great, and the quarterback was very effective. LSU is going to score some points this year.

That's a good thing because this is not Nick's defense. Granted LSU will not face many other quarterbacks as good as Keller, but if they do they better fix some things. Bo Pellini's defense has none of the deception and blitzing that made Nick's defenses so effective. The players don't shift and stunt much and a good, modern quarternback can pick such a predictable defense apart and Keller sure as hell did.

A nice home opener against UNT to work out the problems would have been nice, but we are proud of this team. A win is a win. We'll take it. :dance2:

LSU won the game, amigo. Don't feel too sorry for us, LSU is going to be a handful for Tennessee.

Special teams won the game for LSU.
1. The defense ran out of gass the 4th qtr.
2. Miles is a jerk. Just watch post game.
3. Lsu's offense isn't that great.

Yeah.  Going to give Leak & Co. a lot to look over in a week.  Hey, LOVE the photo signature.  Otis.  LOL.

Relax fellas. Yer guys'll get it together. This happens plenty of times in the opening game. No way do you fall out of the top ten. At the very worst, I think you may fall to 4th. Although, I have no idea who would ascend to 3rd.

Missed this one?

Nah, I think alot of us are a LOT more laid back after watching LSU's lack of pass defense. I'll be there though, and I can't wait.

I am fenced on it. If Fulmer opens up the offense, I think we will take it. If he doesn't, and I don't think he will, we are all in for a roller coaster ride.

I feel better about LSU and Ga after this weekend.

The real kicker to me is, why did LSU move up in the polls?
I dont think they played well enough to actually be ranked no.3?
If anything ASU should have moved up.

I know most people here were expecting LSU to win easily.

But no, a Pac-10 team other than USC could actually keep up with a favored Division winner from the SEC

What a shocker! None of you saw it coming

And I think LSU's poll standings are also helped by the aftermath of the hurricane.

Actually, I saw it coming. I thought that Arizona St would beat LSU. That doesn't mean though that I think Arizona St. is better than SEC teams or that the Pac-10 is better than the SEC. It means I thought there was too much on the minds of LSU players, coaches and staff to go TO Arizona and win.

It's no doubt that the Tigers are the media darlings. Just wait till we beat them, what villians we will become.

Four thoughts:

1. It may be a mistake to judge a team by its performance in an opening game. Especially on the road against a top-15 opponent. Tennessee didn't look extremely sharp in its opener either. September 24th will tell us a lot about our teams.

2. LSU will not have to face a QB as good as Keller again this season (OK, maybe Leak). Our own QB did well and will not have to be replaced. We are happy former Tiger Rick Clausen found a place where he could play, but he doesn't exactly strike fear into our hearts.

3. Yes, the hurricane affected the LSU team at Arizona State. They were not completely focused and obviously not yet comfortable in the new defense. There were the usual first-game jitters with the dropped passes and the foolish fouls. But LSU won the game.

4. LSU rose in the polls because the teams ahead of them lost their games and LSU won a hard-fought road opener against a Top-15 opponent despite many distractions.

IF we play in Baton Rouge.  I seriously doubt that happens.  How the heck will the people get to the game with no gas in louisanna and no hotels in baton rouge?  I seriously doubt we play in death valley.

There is plenty of gas down here the gas prices r actually dropping a little bit
