LT to retire a Charger

LT was overrated, IMO. Great player, but his line was amazing:

2004: LT - 3.9 ypc, Chatman 6.0 ypc
2005: LT - 4.3 ypc, Turner 5.9 ypc
2006: LT - 5.5 ypc, Turner 6.3 ypc, Neal 4.8 ypc
2007: LT - 4.7 ypc, Turner - 4.5 ypc, Sproles - 4.4 ypc
2008: LT - 3.8 ypc, Sproles - 5.5 ypc

Of course a change of pace back who gets way less carries can put up good numbers

Especially with speedy backs

YPC is a poor start to measure the greatness in a rb, especially when you are comparing it with another player with half the carries, jmo

Those one day ceremonial contracts are stupid. I think it'd be better if he signed a one day deal with the Browns or the Milwaukee Brewers then retired.

I'm not comparing LT to Sproles. I'm showing that LT enjoyed a dominant OL. No matter who was running, they were having success.

You are the first person I have ever heard say he was overrated. Congratulations. But I will have to disagree with your opinion.

Like I said, he's great, but no matter how good you are, you can get too much praise. That's why I say he's overrrated. I'm not the only one that thinks he got way too much recognition.

10. Ladainian Tomlinson (Chargers)

Some of you are going, "does this guy understand football at all? He thinks LT is overrated? What?". That reaction is understandable. LT is a really good running back. I don't, however, jump on the "LT is the greatest running back since Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders" bandwagon.

I believe that LT, like all great backs, is the product of a very good and often unnoticed offensive line. LT is not, Chargers fans and fantasy owners, the best thing since sliced bread.

I'm a Raider fan. LT got to run against the Raider's D (if you would call it a D) twice a year. Had some of his best games against the Raiders, as did many backs in the past 10 years or so. Sad 10 years for Raider fans. Glad to see him outta here. :)

I guess emmit Smith was overrated as well.......I mean he had a great offensive line

Except for virtually everybody says Emmitt was great, but then they qualify it with "but he had an awesome line". I'd say the fact that they take that into account means he isn't overrated.

Nobody really points that out when they talk about LT.

This is the dumbest post I've ever seen on here.

Yards/Carry....really?

And when was his line amazing? I remember LT being the only bright spot on some crappy Chargers teams for years.

What you mean by that last statement is you remember LT being the only bright spot among the skill positions. The line was legit all along.

I'll trust my eyes on this one. He had the best moves and running ability for several years, and it wasn't close. His jump step was nasty. The only thing that currently compares is Lesean McCoy, but he's not the complete runner Tomlinson was.

So LT was overrated because he had a great line, but Emmitt isnt overrated when he had a great line as well.................makes sense to me.

Are you really not getting this? Think about the definition of "overrated" and then think good and hard about my statement.

I understand the term "overrated" and I understand how you are using it in this situation............I disagree that he is overrated in any sense or use of the word.

Overrated = Over appreciated

So the reason LT is over appreciated is that virtually nobody mentions how good his O line was, and even somebody in this thread stated that LT was "the one bright spot". All the credit is given to LT, no credit is given to the dominant line.

The reason Emmitt is not over appreciated is because virtually everybody gives substantial credit to his dominant line.
