Lunardi thinks that the ref screwed us

Agree. What costs us the game was the inability to shoot from the outside. What did they shoot; about 0 for 20 from 10 feet and out?

Don't agree at all. They were taking away the outside. In the first half we used that and drove by them; in the second half, we didn't attack as much or as well.

The T was a big deal but giving away the 3 at the end of the half was truly the beginning of the end. Worst 2nd half the Vols have played all season. I will be interested to see how they respond if they make the tournament. Keep playing D and inside-out offense and you can advance. Play like we did earlier in the year and in the 2nd half against Florida and they lose the first game be it play in or otherwise.

Offensively, maybe, but we held the top team in the country to 28 in the second half.

That play turned the tide in Florida's favor the rest of the game.

The foul was questionable to begin with, but the technical then meant we had no Maymon for the rest of the game.

We went from tied to down two possessions from one referee's decision in the closing minutes of the game. That referee blunder cost us dearly.

It costs us but it didn't cost us the game. A 14 point, 11 turnover 2nd half cost us the game. A 9 minute stretch with no field goals cost us the game. Very poor 3 pt shooting, poor point guard play and the inability to get to the free throw line cost us the game.

I agree that those were other factors, but the original comment I was responding to said the Technical didnt "costed us."

The play put us down four and thus cost us dearly. But yes we didnt help ourselves at all with the scoring drought and poor outside shooting.

Say what you want about Tennessee not hitting shots or whatnot but taking one of our best players out of the game was a big swing in the game

Still don't think that play costed us. We scored 14 points in 20 minutes. Sure it was a 4 point swing but we showed we couldn't take it to the basket and score.
Yes, our offense was dismal, but our defense wasn't. It was still tied at 45 when that technical went down. If you don't think that play cost us, I'm not sure what to tell you.

How about Florida played a great game. Their defense was better in the second half. We couldn't get the ball inside and couldn't hit any outside shots. We played well, but when you play the #1 team in the country you just about have to play perfect. I felt like frustration = Technicals and not being able to get the ball inside = jacking up hurried shots are what hurt us. Coach probably could have tried some adjustments when he saw we couldn't get the ball inside. I think it was more Florida playing great than us sucking, or maybe the refs did screw us. :)

This is beyond stupid. Of course the play hurt us. Sure, we only scored 14, but your strategy changes slightly enough to matter when you're down two possessions, as opposed to tied.
