Why is it taking this kid so long to get back in the game? He should have been back as quickly as Peterson did, he is young and has nowhere near the wear and tear on his body.

Who was the last linebacker to sustain a torn ACL, redshirt, and go pro after only playing 2 years? Serious question. I can't think of any.

This.

Ideally (for UT's sake), I'd like to see both Maggitt & AJ play this year and come back for their senior seasons. However, because the NCAA is so tight-fisted, AJ will jump to the NFL (pre-season draft forecasters had him going mid-1st round about 10 spots after Tiny). Maggitt has no choice but to play at least another year of college ball b/c of what SuperSmo said above. If injuries continue to plague him, maybe he'll be like the Duck Dynasty guy and give up on football to devote full-time to hunting...

physcially he maybe ready but mentally he's not ready to go yet. You have to come back when the heads right to play. He will probably redshirt but Butch says they'll talk that over with him and his family and then the decision will be made. Butch gets it.

Who was the last healthy linebacker to go pro early?

Who recently besides Hunter, CP, and Berry have had any reason to turn pro early?

All this turn pro early talk baffles me. Folks talking about AJ, Randolph, and Tiny declaring makes no sense. I'm glad all 3 of these guys are at TN, but I've not seen anything in their play even remotely close to the level of play EB displayed.

I have a feeling that Maggitt's family is driving the bus on this one. At this point a redshirt looks like a good option.

If he thinks next year is his last, he will want to play the remainder of the year. If he thinks, he needs two full seasons before NFL, he will/should redshirt.

If fully rehabbed, he is one of the fastest LBs we have and would be an upgrade. Although as a whole LBs are doing a pretty good job.

I want him for two full seasons, next year all three LBs, Big Dan, Jaques and others depart, AJ no doubt.

Curt has no where to go. He needs to sit it out and take a page out of the book from another Vol named Maymon. Get 100% for next year, and become the elite pass rusher he's capable of.

Exactly, both need to return. Look at D. Sentimore, someone gave him aweful advice, he would be starting this yr at UT and developing under good Coach's instead of leaving early and going undrafted. Not sure if he was ever signed or not by anyone. Either way it was a bad decision by him, he obviously had talent and potential, amazes me how many of these kids waste so much talent and opportunity.

Not sure that AJ leaves after this yr, but we do have better Coach's that actually care and will help the kids with their draft stock and grades and if leaving early is a good decision or if they benefit returning their SR yr. Right now no way AJ is NFL ready.
