Maine Votes No To Gay Marriage

No, your saying its wrong to decide that things are wrong for people to decide and that a more elitist view is needed because the people are stupid. That's the same view I have argued and seen amongst most of those that are arguing for this whole case. The people don't care if they are gay, they just don't agree that redefining marriage because of a few is something that the people want.

It's funny, I could of sworn many with your viewpoint argued that the people were stupid and sheep when they voted for Obama. Which is it?

For me, I don't trust the masses to watch out for my freedom and make my choices. I'd rather make my own and let everyone else make there's as well.

Marriage isn't being "redefined." It's being hijacked as if it is a purely Judeo-Christian concept when it predates both of them and exists in other forms throughout the world to this day. I am against someone forcing a pastor to marry to dudes, just as much as I am against two dudes not being allowed to get married by someone who is willing to do it.

It is not discrimination, they have the right to be gay. These states have just choose to not have gay marriage shoved down their throats.

I make the choice to be straight. No one is born gay. Why would someone choose to murder, rape or rob soemone. It is a choice they have made.

When did you make this choice? Do you have to reaffirm it every day? You have to choose to be attracted to women and choose not to be attracted to men?

As for rape, I refer you back to my distinguishment between orientation and behavior. murder and theft are also behaviors, so of course they are choices. Orientation is not a choice.

It is a choice, they have made a choice and they have to deal with it. No one is born gay, just like no one is born to be a mass murderer.

and even if it is a choice. why do you give a crap? how does it effect you in any way whatsoever?

You are more comfortable with the govt or a judge making this decision rather than the people?

people thought interracial marriages were unnatural as well not too long ago (some still do) and it was illegal in many states.

It was put up for a dang vote. People who care about this issue had the chance to vote and its failed in every state where its been put up for a vote

you are really arguing the same people who voted our chief socialist as president should be deciding who can get married to whom? as i said before 50 years ago most states would have voted down interracial marriage.

and obviously your objections to it are not soley based upon majority rule

They did. Every state that this has been put to a vote, it has been defeated. The only states where it is legal is because of out of control legislation and judges.

I know our society does not like to take responsiblity for our actions, its easier to blame a bad gene, society or our parents. Makes life easier.

and what exactly does the average gay person have to take responsibility for? once again why does it matter if it's a choice or isn't a choice?

Ah yes, the race card. That was played yesterday

If it's making a decision that grants more freedoms, yes. Besides, I thought the majority was always correct? Didn't the majority vote whatever government that appointed whatever judge? The majority is as often wrong as they are right. Which was my point. We have to have personal liberties protected.

Its a shame that these people on here trust a rogue judge more than the american people

Again for the third time, what gives people the RIGHT to decide how other people live? What's out of control in this country is ignorance.

The American people in a round-about way gave that judge his power. It's a monument to human stupidity and the very reason why individual freedoms shouldn't be up for public vote.

what exactly do gay people have to be taking responsibilty for? there are plenty of gay people not ashamed of their orientation.

explain how it isn't a valid comparison if you want to dismiss it. i'm hardly known on here for playing the race card.

Well with you line of thinking there, we will have the govt deciding what we eat, what we drink, can you smoke, where you can smoke. I could go on for days but you get the point.

At the end of the day it comes down to you trusting a rogue lawyer in a wrobe than the people. You keep on trusting the govt to make all of the decisions. Let me know how that works out for you.
