Make Chad Johnson an honorary Vol

Let him give the team a pep talk and have him on the sidelines for the game. Idk what all recruits will be in town for this game, but having Ochocinco there would be neat

Let him on the sidelines, meet Hyatt after game, etc. But I would not let him address the team. No need for that distraction. If recruits wanna take pics with him, so be it.

Why invite a distraction like that when everything is already working well?
The dude is 44 and hasn’t been in the NFL for 10 years. I don’t think it’s a distraction to show a little bit of respect to a 6x pro bowler who has an interest in Vol football/Hyatt, especially since it appears we are recruiting his daughter

He's not asked to do anything except get a pic with Hyatt? Where's the distraction? He didn't ask to address the team as someone suggested he not be allowed to do. If it weren't for track OV for his daughter, he wouldn't be here. If Heupel allows him some.time on the field (his daughter will be in the recruiting section) for a pic, then so be it. 3 years ago, this wouldn't even be an issue cause he probably wouldn't let his daughter no where near a dumpster fire we had.

Guy has some social clout still. Would be a good move to let him on the sideline before the game to snap a few pics with the players and recruits that want.
After that, show him to his and his daughter's seats and say enjoy the game...assuming an official visit for track and field includes a game ticket or two.

Side note - is his son, Chad Jr. still playing for Arizona State?
Also, wonder if his 7 other kids are athletes?

Never really liked him as a player, but his daughter is visiting, and the kids on the team want him there, I'm all for it. Cruitin is a tough gig, I'll take all the help we can get. Besides, he's been out of the league for a while, so why hold anything against him.....

Lol he would not be a distraction yall!!!

Geeeez

We've had NFL players like Peyton Manning on the sidelines forever.

What are you people thinking???

It would straight up be cool to have Chad Johnson. He's a legend.

Won't hurt, could only help with recruiting.

These are good things lol

I think Peyton has a connection to the University of Tennessee having played there for 4 years, been a representative of the university since then and contributed significant amounts of money. What is Chad Johnson's connection?

Johnson is a legend for his antics, not his on field career. And you may want to refresh your memory regarding his departure from the NFL. He was cut after being charged with domestic assault, a charge he ultimately was given probation for which he violated.

Odd to have so many people welcoming a man convicted of hitting a woman onto the field after the events at the end of the Bama game 2 weeks ago.

We had comedians/YouTube stars dump our coach with Gatorade after the Florida game. If Ochocinco wants to hang on the sideline, then let him.

44 year old dude with no ties to TN. He can sit in the stands with everyone else.

Uhh I know the difference between Peyton and Chad. Plenty of teams have had other NFL stars on the sidelines in the past.

His domestic assault also happened a decade ago. Literally ten years ago. You just wanna assume he's just irredeemable?

I dont think Jermaine Burton is irredeemable. The real outrage there is the fact he didn't get suspended.

Equating that situation with something Chad Johnson did ten years ago is just you trying to hate someone.

I hate Chad Johnson now? Thanks for letting me know. Are you cool for having OJ at the coin toss as an honorary captain or do you hate OJ for some reason?

I thought I was against a convicted wife beater with no connection whatsoever to the university being given special privileges that very, very few are afforded. Thanks again for telling me what I think.
