New Rivals article up on Malik Stokes, younger brother of Vol commit Je'Ron Stokes...He picked up an official offer from Tennessee at last weekend's camp in Knoxville.

He's a qb, class of 2010, and says the Vols are his leader. He's getting a lot of early interest from Penn St., Illinois, Clemson, Florida, and FSU.

I don't see how he wouldn't want to play pitch and catch with his brother here at UT.

He's a 1 star recruit that UT just had to have as early as possible. The program is in complete decline and is headed for the apocalypse.

In all honesty, he is the second coming of Donovan McNabb, but will have his 1 star talent wasted at Quinnipiac University because all D1 coaches look at
F!@#$% stars before they even sniff the air within 50 miles of his aura.

#$^% the stars. If the kid can play at D1 level, then sign him and develop him.

Contrary to other reports, Al Wilson was a 2* S coming out of HS.

That experienced really sucked, didn't it?:fool:

He was actually the #4 fullback coming out of HS. You might be thinking of Ryan Karl(how you mix the two up I don't know) who was a 2* safety out of HS.

Considering I followed the recuiting game before it was "cool" to do so, I know I'm not mistaken (regardless of what the archives say now). Wilson was ranked as a safety coming out of HS, and was still considered (to the public) as a S when he got to campus. The coaching staff always knew he was going to be a LB.

You're right. Rivals had him as a top 9 SS. My bad, I was looking at LWSVols signing classes since 1966 and Lemming listed him as #4 FB and rivals had him as SS.

Lemming is an idiot.

The other stuff I was writing... nevermind. It's not worth the time.

God, I wouldn't mind having a QB that could kill the defense either way he wanted, and bringing excitement to what has been a boring, yet productive offense.

From watching his videos on rivals he doesn't look like a very good quarterback. He just lobs it up and hopes someone catches it. He is just a Sophomore so he can develop into a better QB, but I'm sure he would be a pretty good receiver.

Malik's video looks pretty impressive! Lots of down the field passes on the money. But then again he was probably throwing to his brother most of the time. He looks good though. Get him hooked!

Now, if only Je'ron had a younger brother who played DT...

This kid sounds like a dual threat QB we have all been waiting for!

Based on his stats last year, Stokes doesn't sound like a true dual threat. He lost 117 yards on 49 carries, suggesting he got sacked a lot.

Stokes' passing stats were OK (78-156-1256 yards and 13 TDs), but I think Randy Moore's claim that "Tennessee may be closing in on securing perhaps the most talented passing combo in all of high school football" is way over the top...and off the mark.

he's a pro-style QB

I don't think you guys seem to understand that he was only a Sophomore last season, he still has two years of HS football to grow and improve

Just sick and tired of all the rookies and negaters berating the "Stars" system and its relevance to our FB program.

My favorite(and usually most productive) players at UT have been "less than" top talent in HS (re: less than 4 stars).

yeah, Peyton Manning and Jamal Lewis werent productive and Im sure you werent a fan of either.
