i keep seeing espn claiming there is no doubt luck will go first if he comes out, but how many of you would take mallet over him? He's so tall and has a rocket arm... if he slides to the five to tenth slot after luck i think someone is going to get a steal.... he's hard to bring down too, kinda like rothliesberger... which buys a qb an extra second... no doubt luck is a stud qb but i think mallet will be also

I've watched Luck play a lot this year and IMO he's a better QB than Mallet. I would take either though if I needed a QB and the other was already off the board

+1 and Auburn had no problems bringing Mallet down, teehee.

Both guys will be top 10 picks. I think both guys needs a little more developing, so they couldn't start from day 1 like Bradford/Manning, etc.

To start a season? No. I think he could take over after 6-8 games though.

I believe he would do fine if thrown to the wolves immediately.

Manning wasn't very good his first year at Indy. He threw 28 picks his rookie season.

I don't know. Just my personal opinion. I think it'd be best to take the Eli route for him.

Yes, but he handled it very well.

Mallet never really beat a quality team like an Alabama. But beating OSU will go a long way.

Luck. Without a doubt. Mallett is a very good QB, but Luck is more mobile, has better footwork and has absolutely carried Stanford. Ryen Russillo was talking about it earlier on the SVP show, and posed the question could you name another player on Stanford's roster. I couldn't, and I've seen them play quite bit this year.

ThroughtheT, I thought you were one of the guys saying we should stick with Clausen for a little while longer.
Anyone who reads the Panthers thread knows that I have a bit of a problem in that I seem to be obsessed with the prospect of landing Andrew Luck. I've watched him play a lot, and I truly believe he will be a solid franchise QB that a team can be built around. If he decides to stay in school, I will be in a bad mood for a while.
Mallet is a good college QB, but I see him at a Derek Anderson-type in the pros. Big arm, but slow and not incredibly accurate.
I'd rate QB prospects as Luck, Locker, Newton, Mallet.

:eek:lol:

Are you serious? So you think Mallet is a bust, but Locker is the 2nd best QB in the draft. That's crazy.

Locker didn't have a great year, but he's got a lot of "upside", as the draft guys would say. He's really quick and makes quick decisions.
Speaking of the draft guys, Kiper and McShay both have Locker above Mallet, so I'm not that crazy to prefer him to RM.

let's make a poll of all of them:

Mallett, Luck, Locker, Gabbert, Newton, Pryor, and so on

1. Luck
2. Mallett (on pure growth potential but most of those archetypes are total busts).
3. Newton
4. Gabbert
5. Locker

I watched the bowl game and thought that Gabbert played very well. He can really put some mustard behind his passes but moving from a spread to a pro-style attack could cause a little bit of a delay. Not starter ready and needs to put some time into his footwork. He can really zip the ball though.

Saw 2 games with Locker (Neb and Stan) and was not impressed.

gabbert screams pocket frankenstein guy to me. i doubt he's good in the nfl unless he's behind an elite line. my ranking:

1. Luck

2. Mallett
3. Newton

4. Locker
5. Gabbert
