Of the four, Arkansas probably came out best, Ut should be second if they hire Strong, tha other I would rate equal.

Two 7-6 seasons and one 10-2 ... where is the hype for Strong coming from. Oh yeah, he coached in Florida. I forgot. That makes the hire all worth it.

Remind me again how UofL was doing before he got there?

2007 6-6 (3-4)
2008 5-7 (1-6)
2009 4-8 (1-6)

I guess Steve Kragthorpe was still trying to get his players into the system during those years.

You must be racist because this defies any logical football reasoning.

nothing racist, hire Shaw. I would rank him # 1 in that group.
Strong has 3 years in a very weak conference with one good year.

Strong= Dooley 2.0.... gets the hype the first two years, pulls a couple of descent recruiting classes, then shows he is over his head in year three and needs to go back and be a DC somewhere. Then we go after Gruden again.... yawn.

If we have "descent" classes we're screwed. If we have decent classes, we're okay. Who in the f%*k is teaching English and Spelling in America?

if TN does hire Strong that would be the weakest hire of the 4 SEC hires this year.

1. Beliema

2. Malzahn

3. Stoops

4. Strong

I agree. We fired a better coach than those four.
We have reached a new low by even considering these guys.

Include Strong as the TN coach and then rank the SEC coaches..

Is he

A. Top tier

B. mid pack

C bottom tier

I rest my case. He would be a terrible hire
compared to the SEC coaches he would be competing against

Malzahn has the most potential
Beliema has the best resume
Strong has a decent resume and some potential

In 3-4 years I think Beliema has an SEC Championship and Malzahn is on the verge. I don't think Strong ever competes for one. But I do think he'll be beating the likes of South Carolina handily at least.
If Beliema has one it will be with Arkansas. Yahoo sports has reported he has come to an agreement with Arkansas. Good coaches being hired. We are waiting so we can hire an also ran!

Strong is easily the best of the three, and Malzahn is easily the worst...still don't understand why everyone is on his D

Malzahn's resume doesn't even remotely compare to Charlie Strong's my friend. Not even close. Charlie Strong is exactly what Tennessee needs. A defensive minded coach, with huge recruiting inroads in the SEC.

It's funny, because I remember being in the minority in saying that Dooley was a terrible hire and now when an actual good coach is on the horizon, people are freaking the hell out.

FWIW, my ranking of the hires in this part of the country to date:

#1. Arkansas - Beliema's teams are always well-coached; he'll challenge Miles & Satan in the SECW
#2. NC State - who ever heard of N Illinois before Jerry Kill & Dave Doeren?
#3. ??Tennessee?? - ?Charlie Strong?, has both HC & SEC experience (not to mention a team in a BCS bowl)
#4. Auburn - Gus Malzahn will have some talent to work with
#5. Kentucky - except for Bob, the Stoops boys haven't had much luck as HCs

Based on? Oh wait, he was an assistant under Urban Meyer who was successful at UF. I wish we could of done that with one of Saban's..... ooooohhhh

If I were you, I'd make my point once or twice instead of 1800 times so you don't look really dumb in a couple of years.

Malzahn is potential walking into a NCAA hammer and the uncertainty is going to hurt his recruiting.

Stoops: Kentucky is always going to be an uphill battle. If he is any good he would probably be gone in 3 years. If he is bad he will probably be gone in 3 years.

Bielema is the most accomplished coming in, but didn't seem to like recruiting last year against Urban Meyer. What will he do in a league with 13 teams that will try anything (up to bribing?) to flip his commitments up till signing day?

Strong if he can get good recruits out of Florida should be able to get us back into contention fairly quickly.

Another swing and a miss!!!

P.s. You can't "rest your case" and then say something else stupid.

Cause Florida is never known for their defenses. The fact he got a big least team to a BCS bowl is quite an accomplishment. He has out recruited similar teams in his conference, he has beat similar teams in his conference. If he comes to Tennessee he will do likewise. Larger recruiting budget, it's the SEC, it's Tennessee. He just needs to hire a good staff and he will do fine. He has showed something Dooley hasn't; game management skills and the ability to develop and coach up talent. I can't believe how many of you negative posters can't see the bigger picture. The national sports analysts (the same ones who said we were going to be horrible this year and were right) all agree Strong would be a solid hire. I know all of y'all are beaten down but have a little faith for once.

If Beliema couldn't beat the perennial powerhouses of the Big10 with similar talent (keep in mind tOSU fired Tressel and had NCAA issues) he won't be able to at Arky. I know he won the Big 10 a few times but 2 losses or more doesn't win the SEC in this day and age.

I bet the bank Strong at Tennesssee will out recruit Bielema easily. Malzahn it depends on his staff, but Strong will give him a run for his money. In terms on instant success in terms of possible wins year one I would rank Strong at the bottom. He needs to get speed in our secondary and that could take a couple of years. In year 3 or 4? I hope Strong surpasses the other 2. There are no guarntees in hiring any of these 3, but this team will not quit on Strong like they did Dooley.

If he is hired, I hope so. any thoughts on who would be on his staff? That will say alot to how well he will recruit

If he wants some good karma he needs to keep Graham and Pittman. If he does we will see a commitment soon from a top RB. The rest I have no idea. I heard his DL coach is great recruiter given he was trying to get kids to come to UofL. I would guess he will find it somewhat easy to sell recruits now since he will be in orange and a member of the SEC.

Agreed. I think he would be good to keep both of them and possibly Chaney
