Man lets daughter die, prays instead of calling for medical help

having faith does not trump common sense...he should have BOTH books thrown at him

It did for this guy, and all of his church friends that prayed and took communion in an effort to heal this girl.

"If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," Neumann said.

"Who am I to predict death when death is an appointed time for all of us?" he asked.

"I believe in the power of prayer," Wilde testified.

Hard to argue with such rock-solid logic.

this guy shoudl be in a mental institution, not jail.

Why? His wife was convicted of second degree reckless homicide.

This guy is not crazy in the least, he acted in a perfectly rational way given his requisite beliefs. He believed in the power of prayer, and God was supposed to save his little girl. His whole Bible study group got behind him and supported him. Once one believes in the power of prayer to heal, the rest is practically science.

The Jehova Witness that refuses a blood trasfusion is comparable here. They are betting their life on a religious belief based purely in faith.

What a piece of trash. I don't buy his whole "this is not Biblically" acceptable nonsense either. I doubt he can live an entire day of his life "Biblically" correct but in this instance he is all over using the Bible as some crutch to let his daughter suffer and die. Idiot.

The Bible refers to physicians several times in the Bible.

Here is one example:

Luke 5:31 (King James Version)

31And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

Luke was a physician before joining Christ

that is what I meant by "both" books...he needs to read the Bible in his jail cell

Another example of the dangers of extreme fundamentalism, wether it be Christian fundamentalists or islamic.

I see a fundamental distinction between an adult who refuses medical treatment and a person who controls/speaks for someone who is more or less at their mercy.

Why couldn't they just pray that God give a doctor strength and wisdom to help their child, then everyone wins?

Hmm. So when he is hungry does he sit in his living room and pray as well, or does he put the grocer ahead of God, or, better yet, the imbecile at the McDonald's drive-thru window?

If the decision was for himself, I wouldn't care, it's his choice.

But if its for a minor, then you have to do whatever possible for them. I think it's that simple.
