Man lets daughter die, prays instead of calling for medical help

when was the last time a Christian fundamentalist blew himself up in a crowded market?

you're stretching dude.

Leaving cults out of this, I will say that the last abortion clinic bombing would be a decent equivalent. They are both extremist actions taken to promote an agenda.

I will also say that you don't have to be blowing yourself up to be an extremist or to see the downside of extremist fundamentalism...it wasn't necessarily a reach be okla..he was merely pointing out that people get wrapped up in odd beliefs sometimes and distort it into something others just don't see, agree with, or support. To them, it seems like the 'right' thing, but to everyone else it seems crazy. They become blinded by their immersion and some odd tick in their head....whether that be blowing up a group of infidels, killing all those that won't convert to your religion, drinking kool-aid for a false prophet, or letting your daughter die because you would rather god save her directly than let a doctor save her.

when was the last abortion bombing? lets compare the number of abortion bombings by Christians to bombings by muslims.

also, you never here this but 99% of true Christian churches disagree and preach against acts like bombing of clinics.

there is no comparison.

i agree with what your saying. God wants us to rely on him but He wants Christians to use their given talents. this guy not taking his daughter to the doctor is like someone praying that they pass a physics test but never studying.

There is a comparison, and that comparison is that they are both acts of extremist fundamentalism. Okla didn't say that Christian fundamentalists are out there doing the same amount of crazy wacked up stuff as the Islamic fundamentalists with the same frequency and intensity. If he did, then you might be able to argue no comparison. Instead, he just said that this is another example of the dangers of extremist fundamentalism, which I generally agree with. Some people get way too wrapped up...

Interesting comparison. So if the someone who prayed to pass a physics test without studying did in fact pass it, he would undoubtedly attribute it to God. If he didn't pass it, he was obviously just stupid about the whole thing.

Same with this guy and his daughter. If she would have gotten better, he and most of his followers (and more than likely other Christians not of his denomination) would tout it as categorical proof to the effectiveness of prayer. Completely overlooking the utter stupidity of what he did.

This whole mode of thinking is ridiculous.

The same could be said for someone into holistic medicine, meditation, organic foods, vitamins, etc. to treat an illness.

If they follow there regimen and get better (even though they would have gotten better anyway) then they believe it was their system.

Right. This kind of blind dogmatism is bad with anything.
