Manafort Trial Thread

Why are they wasting time on this case while the Russians prepare to turn another election. What exactly did they do? How will we stop them next time? How serious is this issue in the next election? This is what he was tasked to do, start reporting whatever it is.

If there is interference in the 2018 elections and the dems take the House and/or Senate then it won't be that big of a deal, non story

Funny thing is that's what he is charged with. It has nothing to do with meme's. You would be better off wanting him to be a Russian Agent trying to influence the campaign and not a Russian Agent that did influence the campaign. If he is convicted of this, you will argue that he didn't influence the Pro-Russian stance of the President.
The Russian collusion cases cornerstone is memes and Macedonian content troll farmers. Come on dude.

And it has nothing to do with this trial.
Oh this trial is absolutely part of it. The problem is Mueller thought he could get this guy to somehow flip and spill the beans and he didnt because there is nothing to spill. If this guy gets anything less than 5 years and a $500,000 fine you can kiss your collusion/conspiracy dreams goodbye.

Do you really think these are the only charges Mueller has in the barrel?

He has already show his hand when it comes to charges. Getting even half of it to stick is unlikely. Dont be surprised to see a plea deal offered by Muellers team to salvage a "win".

What? That was Mueller's goal all along. It wouldn't be a salvage, it would be a complete victory. lol

I would not worry too much about Russia. I believe Russia is nothing but a smoke screen. The DEMs overplayed their hand on the whole Russia Collusion bit. Republicans are playing along. Countries have been interfering in other countries elections for decades.

The real story: Trump is going to use this whole Russia Meddling Bit to get some more stringent rules\policies\laws in place to prevent election tampering and reduce the amount of Non Citizens, Dead People, other fraudsters from voting. Voter_ID should be the law in every state. Election Rolls should be verified and purged annually. Illegals\Non-Citizens should never be able to vote.

Sounds like the governments evidence is all circumstantial and speculation to this point. Unless they’ve got recordings of conversation or emails telling people to hide money from the IRS, this trial is a massive waste of tax payer money. If that turns out to be the case and Manafort is found to be not guilty, charges need to be brought against Mueller for conspiracy.

“Laporta, the accountant, described a conference call with Gates in which he said Manafort could not afford to pay his taxes and discussed the possibility of reducing them by reporting a loan from an entity in Cyprus called Telmar Investments that prosecutors contend Manafort controlled. Laporta testified she did not believe such a loan actually existed.
Laporta said she asked Gates for a record of the loan and he provided a two-page document that bore what she said was Manafort’s signature.”

Perhaps I am just not understanding this Muler indictment of Manafort. I thought Muler was supposed to be investigating President Trump's possible collusion with the Russians.

Wow. No. Mueller levied charges to get him to flip. He laughed at Mueller and said suck it. It went to court. Mueller offering another plea deal instead of letting a jury let the guy off the hook is hardly "total victory". Why do I get the feeling you have a case full of participation trophies in your hovel that has a cardboard sign on it saying "Champion"...

Any prosecutor type lawyers in here or are yall amberlamps chasers? What do you call it when a prosecutor offers another plea deal to prevent a jury from deciding the case?

I actually was registered as a Democrat up till about 6 years ago.
Republican seems more fun than independent

I was at FedEx today. They had a sign dated 2018..if you pay with cash, credit card, or check you have to have an official government issued ID...
Black folk don't have i.d. They are sh!t out of luck.

I don’t doubt the guy cheated on his taxes, but that’s not exactly proof.

Then why is a special prosecutor tasked (originally) with investigating Russian interference in our election trying this case?

To try to get that plea and flip. You know that hog. It's not a secret.
