I don't honestly think you can tell if a kid is giving his all or not just by watching from the stands.

I honestly know for a fact you can.
Example: Chris Hannon runs a 4.2 40 and is 6-4.......but he cant catch a ball that is about a foot or two in front of him?

The fact is reading some of your BS I'm convinced many of you know nothing at all. Taking cheap shots at kids doing something that most of you only wish you could have done is really rotten. The same can be said for you "experts" who think you know more about a team's problems and how to fix them than do the coaches. Listen morons are you people so stupid that you think coaches whose jobs are at stake aren't working their asees off trying to fix the situation?

Tennessee has had a great run from 1989 through 2004 and this year happens to be their turn for a down year but the sky isn't falling and they will be back again. BTW, for those idiots who were booing Eric Ainge yesterday you ought to have your asses kicked over your friggin head. People like that are nothing but pure gutter trash. Like Coach Cutcliff stated UT had several outstanding recruits from out of state visiting and hearing that crap may very well drive them away from Tennessee, however these gutter trash probably could care less.

Lighten up TVTT,we as fans tend to say stupid things in the heat of the moment.I myself have done my share of bashing. You have the right to say what and how you feel just as the rest of us.I read quite a few of your post and you constantly ridicule the posters on here,so therefor I come to the conclusion that you hate all Tennessee fans and we are all idiots for feeling disgust over our teams performance.

Maybe the sun got his eyes, maybe he just lost the ball, maybe the defender had a hand on him.

Gotta disagree with that one.

A Player giving his all for instance would lay out for a TD pass a foot in front of him if for nothing else but pride.

I would agree in most circumstances but I think that's a pretty broad statement. Can you give me another couple of examples besides diving for every pass?

I think there's a big difference between lack of effort and lack of focus.

I like how athletes in college football get a free pass. They go thru about 7-8 yrs of organized football before they even get to college and then they need fundamentals work? The cream of the crop usually only get that far, its my opinion players who are accused of needing fundamentals work actually need a boot in the butt to drive out the lazy demon.

I think its clear our defense isn't playing with the same heart they played with at the beginning of the season. All of these losses have taken their toll. Its a lot different getting up to qualify for a BCS bowl instead of a Music City Bowl, everyone still wants to play well, but you dont get the same adrenaline rush you get in a big game.

IMO the real area where you can see our receivers lacking in intensity, is downfield blocking. Blocking of any kind for that matter. A lot of our receivers are going through the motions here, there is no doubt in my mind they are not giving a 100% on running plays. Thats the reason its pretty close to impossible for one of UT's RB to break off a long TD run. He's got to beat the whole secondary since no one is making a hard core effort to block them. Again some of these guys need to be benched until they give a 100%. Again my :twocents:

I pretty much figure you should only boo when it's clear who you're booing, -and then only if it's a coaching decision or a ref's call (or pattern of them).

Even if it didn't feel hinky to me booing my team, it's kind've bad strategy- if the point is to make a kid screwing up play better, then getting bashed by 100K + isn't exactly likely to make him play better.

**Especially if the problem is the problem is that they're freaking spastic head-cases whose coaches don't have a clue how to help them like this year.

Which kind've brings me to the "giving it their all" part of the thread. I don't think that's the problem. They're obviously trying desperately to get things right. But with some kinds of kids, trying too hard just makes things worse. What kind of kids? See the astericks above.

Something I've said before....the three and outs don't give the D the break they need. Look at time of possession. These guys have been stretched to ungodly lengths to stay out there and hang. Like with ND, we tie the score and then meltdown. SC drives at the end of the game. Our O has to help these guys out. How does it feel to bust your rears, sack, cause fumbles, tip passes, etc. only to be sent back out there two minutes later?

The D has done remarkable all things considered. They're not perfect but they have definitely held their own to the point they physically can.

I recently talked to one of the team managers, and he said that this is the first year since he's been there that he can tell the players don't give a damn about "giving their all for Tennessee."

He said the lockeroom is flat before and after games, and no one cares anymore. He also said that the only thing that has started to motivate the players is the thought that they might miss out on the individual spending money that comes with a bowl appearance. This was recently backed up by a Chris Hannon quote I read in the Tennessean.

So there you have it. No one cares about playing hard and having pride in your school or the state you represent. All they get motivated for is money.

I predict this team will do just enough to get to a bowl game, and nothing more. Two unimpressive and lackluster wins against Vandy and KY, then a miserable bowl loss that hearkens back to the 2002 and 2003 Peach Bowl debacles against Maryland and Clemson.

This team (this entire program) needs a major attitude adjustment before next fall.

Me too...but it can happen very easily. I just don't see Phil as a top-of-the-line motivator. He needs to get after some people!

As an Assistant Property Manager for "American Pie" and its sequels, I could answer that question but I'm pretty sure you really don't want to know.

That said, I once told a certain intern to wash her dress for gods sake, and look how her career took off thanks to ignoring me....

I'm pretty sure religion ain't gonna help.

After all, if you think back, hasn't our offense so far pretty much looked like God was pissed off at us and wasn't going to take it any more?

The fact is we're all mad and rightfully so. Some people have a better way to air their displeasure than others. But when all is said and done we're all on the same page with expecting better play from a team of this level. We can all be playstation QB's as one coach put it but it's the Man who makes the choices and we have to deal with it....with our friends, with co-workers on Monday morning, with neighbors telling us to take down our orange because it brings down the neighborhood, etc.....

I agree whole-heartedly.

The last thing a bunch of pin-heads like us need to do, tolerance-wise, is start shunning pencil-dicks like him.

I mean, how would that make us look?
