Many say Trump is not a successful business person. Is he now?

It really didn't take a whole lot of smarts to run like he did. Just tell the people what they claim to want to hear and place the blame on someone else. Then keep it up when you're totally unprepared to do anything. A smart man would also be able to keep his mouth shut when it would benefit him
Then why didn’t someone do it before Trump? I agree he runs his mouth too much and certainly don’t agree with everything he does but the guy has to have some intelligence to get as far as he has in life. You’re not stupid, in general, if you got to be President. Same goes for Biden. He’s not a stupid man even though he does and says plenty of stupid things.

I'm confident I haven't seen 60 seconds of MSNBC in the past 10 years.
I do acknowledge that CNN is more trustworthy than Fox.
They say the same things Luther, pretty much word for word, especially when it comes to political messaging and Trump.

I understand the clarity you're offering. I don't understand why you're putting an asterisk on the subject.
I see it this way:
If his current position has value, then it has value. If it doesn't (because of a future decision), then it has value.

Is that incorrect?

I'm putting a short-term asterisk on the value that he's getting since it's ultimately dependent on other events happening that are completely out of his control. It could be in 6 months after the merger, DWAC is trading at $100/ share and Trump's stake is worth 8B....

Opinion only. Completely subjective. Move to strike, your Honor. I RARELY watch Fox or CNN, but when I do it’s to see the different angles and they both usually garner the same number of eye rolls. THAT, my friend, is super scientific data for you.

People tried he was just loud enough to get it done. Although he may have been the first to go full Costanza and believe it himself. Populism isn't a new idea but to pull it off from his position is pretty funny

Trump inherited a triple. Let's not act like he got on base by himself

I know that they do.
It's a numbers thing.
Over time, the percentage of people who believe the earth is flat compared to those who believe it is spherical has continually changed. There have always been staunch believers on both sides - but only one side was ever correct.
Most flat-earthers lived and died never knowing how wrong they actually were.....and so it goes.

CNN is much more reputable than fox--always has been. It has had a center-left orientation with its nightly commentators for years--but it's always been a more professional network. CNN has rarely or never put on any obvious clowns and crackpots like Jeanine Piro, Lou Dobbs, Glenn (I'm crying again) Beck and others. It rarely if ever has had commentators who push conspiracy theories and the assorted nonsense that has been standard on fox 20 years. In political terms, it would be like comparing Majorie T. Greene to Adam Schiff. Conservatives can hate on Schiff for leading the impeachment of the gangster--but he's got far more intelligence, integrity and competence than the dumb, angry redneck from Georgia.

MAGA always like to fall back on false equivalency--that's a big thing with a lot of conservatives. "Oh, Biden's no different than Trump. Oh, CNN is just as bad as Fox." No, not even close to true. There are no progressives on the radio or with blogs that are anything like the embarrasingly crazy and dishonest numbskulls in right-wing media. There is no progressive equivalent of Alex Jones--and there are 20 others on the right like Jones.

CNN and Fox are both propaganda machines for their tribe...

There are three words that summarize Trump: Fraudulent Self-Promotion. The is the essence of the man.

He's smart--he went to Penn--but above all he is a venal, corrupt businessman and 24/7 self-promoter. He's a con man, a carnival barker, and a bully. He inherited a significant NY real-estate business from his father plus many millions of dollars. He expanded the business, took on tons of debt, and many times made terrible decisions. He lost all of his Atlantic City casinos, declared bankruptcy 4 times. Until recently, he managed to stay one-step ahead the law, and has been good at strong-arming banks into lending him more and more money until he could get his company stabilized. (But nearly all stopped doing business with him many years ago. He hasn't built anything in more than 20 years because no western banks want anything to do with him. So he's spent the last 20 years trying to con foreign businessmen and banks into doing brand deals with him--they take all the risk building office buildings and condos, the suckers slap the Trump name on the building, and he gets a cut of any profits without taking any risk. A smart con, if it works--but definitely a con.

What he does more than anyone in the history of mankind is promote himself /relentlessly/ and /fraudulently/ as this brilliant and uber-successful person. Nope. Total con job. He is a guy who will say and do ANYTHING to get what he wants--been that way all his life. He is a documented absurd cheater in golf. He lies endlessly to promote himself and to damage opponents--he's a total lowlife. He came down after the Iowa caucus and claimed it was the second time he'd won it. Lie. He claimed after New Hampshire that he'd won the general election in NH in the past. Lie--he lost NH twice, to both Clinton and Biden. Take those examples and multiple then by a billion---blatant, obvious lies throw out every day to make himself look good--and you get the essence of a gangster. His campaign style is to stand up and insult and try to mock his opponents. That's it. A nasty, sinister man. He said yesterday or the day before that Haley supported Obama---lie. This is who he is and what he does. A lowlife and a gangster. Oh, and he's utterly, utterly shameless. We've all seen that.

Sounds like he’s built a permanent home in your head and is living there rent-free.

Lou Dobbs had a show on CNN for twenty years. Glenn Beck got his start in television on CNN Headline News.

Dobbs had a pretty straightforward business show on CNN. He was not a political commentator, which is what he became at fox. He was always terrible--looked the part but in fact not very smart and a fraud. I don't know what Beck did at CNN--but he certainly wasn't doing that completely pathetic and laughable act that was his show on Fox, when he would spin conspiracy tales and pretend to cry on many occasions. And when Dobbs and Beck were at CNN, it was a straight and rather boring news network. There was no political or news commentary. That all came after Fox starting doing it.

Fox was run by Roger Aisles--a former Republican political operative, and he had a real political agenda. That wasn't the case at CNN at all until Fox was started by that lowlife Murdoch--a classic tabloid merchant. That is what Fox was, and is, a TV tabloid network akin to the Sun newspaper in England--also owned by Murdoch. CNN was the New York Daily News and Fox was the NY Post--also owned by Murdoch. Both tabloid formats, but one, the Post, a true tabloid--sensationalism, skirting ethical boundaries--and the other not.

He has no shares in the merged entity until the merger is approved.

How many shares he ends up with is based on percentage who go through with merger.

He can't sell any shares until 6 months after merger agreement

Can’t sell any shares or can’t sell his shares in the PUBLIC equity markets? Can he unload shares to a BlackRock or a Goldman or any number of other deep pocket investors as long as they don’t put them up for sale in a public market for the duration of the lockup period?

Long-term, I'd be short. Ain't touching it in short-term

Sounds about right. Right now I think it’s a $50 stock that has only collected $10/share in cash from DWAC holders with no other assets or any income statement activity (maybe a little interest income and administrative expenses).

It will pop like an irrational meme stock once the merger with DJT happens. There are listed options going out to Q1-2026. Could buy a Jan 2026 $50 put for about $30.
